Vintage Metal School Pull Down Map Display / Rack / Holder Holds up to 8 Maps
Up for your consideration is a vintage map holder/rack from a school here in NW Ohio. It holds up to 8 pull down style maps. It is in good vintage condition with some signs of wear. No hardware is included with this. The school used'S' hooks to hang it and that seemed to work well for them. It does have little rubber bumpers at the bottom. The little round buttons that hold the maps are about 1 3/8" diameter 42" wide 21 1/8" tall about 1" total thickness. Thanks for taking a look. VINTAGE SCHOOL MAPS (7) PULL DOWN WOOD CASE-INDIANA, CONTINENTS, POLAR AIR AGE
Terrific vintage pull down school maps(7) with wood rack. The maps are of Africa. Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Indiana, and the Polar Air Age World. The maps are all vivid in color with the exception of the Polar Air Age World Map which is slightly more muted in color. Six of the maps are copyright Denoyer-Geppert Co. Chicago. The Indiana map is copyright A.J. Nystrom& Co. The maps of the continents and IN are Physical-Political. There is some slight discoloration on the bottoms of most of them(see zoom pix of photos) and the IN map is slightly torn at the bottom where it connects to the wood rod. The wood case is approx 22 x 51 inches. We dusted it well but I think it would benefit from additional cleaning(which we will leave to the buyer-who can determine the patina they desire) The maps pull down easily and roll back ... moreup with relative ease-with only a couple of them requiring extra attention for the last few inches. A few of the metal brackets that hold each map in place when it the maps are rolled up are slightly bent but the maps stay in place in spite of this. As you can see from the photos, there is a"string" tied around two pieces of wood on one side. I'm not certain what the purpose of the string is since it is relatively loosely tied around the two pieces and nothing seems to fall out of place. Overall, this map would benefit from a good cleaning and from what appears to me to be minor attention such as replacing a couple of missing screws on the hanging brackets, reshaping the brackets that hold the maps. Since this is large and cumbersome to ship-please view pictures closely and feel free to ask questions. We will be glad to provide additional pictures upon request. Two vintage school wall maps of Europe. Both maps were made by Edigol Ediciones S.A. of Spain. Characteristics: Non-reflecting laminate Printing litho-offset 4+4 colours with plastic strips along the top and bottom. Scale: 2cm = 100km The maps feature a political map on one side and a physical map on the other. The maps are bright but are in a used vintage condition with evidence that they were stapled to a wall at some point(small holes on the white border) Approx size 90-95cm x 110-130cm. Map 1. Cold War Era 1945-1990. Unfortunately this map has a dark stain around Albania and on the edge. This stain has gone through the paper. Map 2. Very brief snap shot of history from 1990(reunification of Germany) till 1991 when the USSR ended. So an interesting map that was immediately superseded. This. Vintage George Cram School WWII European, Pacific Theatre Pull Down Maps
This is a great set of what appears to have been school maps by Cram. The maps each measure 51" wide x 39 1/2 in high. The pull down area is a large 54" x 82" The pull down works great. They store rolled up nicely. Has great color graphics and lots of detail. There are no marks or tears. This was hanging rolled up in a friends house. It is a nice sturdy canvas. This is a old school pull down map. The map has a name on the top of them that reads Rand McNally Map/ World History Series. Map editor Knight Biggerstaff, Ph.D Cornell University. Series Editor R.R. Palmer PH.D Litt D, there are 16 maps, all vary in size, first map is 48" wide and 36" long measuring the black boarder line around the map section, the pull down has wear and an attic odor to it, some of the edges of the maps have tears, most of the bottom of the maps where the metal small bar is on has tape on the worn section, one metal bar is missing on one of the maps, there are some stains on the back of each map, the map section on the front of all 16 are in nice condition, clear and nice color, the outside roll up cover has a tear and stains, this has a metal bracket on the top to hang the map on the wall and measures 55 1/2" ... morewide, the section that would be mounted on the wall is missing. Vintage Oak Iowa Country School Map Case With 4 Original Maps
This beautiful old wall mounted map case was salvaged from a deserted country school being torn down in Madison County Iowa in the 60's by the local contractor. We brought it with us when we moved to Cincinnati. Unfortunately. It was rained on quite a bit in the old schoolhouse and suffered surface damage to the finish. Since we have many primitive pieces in our home, it fit right in. Others may decide to have it refinished as some of the varnish has flaked off clear down to the wood as you can see in the pictures. All maps are on working rollers. But I have released their tension for packing. The maps should be cleaned, the pull rods checked for tightness, and the tension rollers oiled and readjusted. Most are from the early 60's and 70's. They are printed on a heavy weight Paper. Great colors on these flip chart style school maps. Almost all will have little areas that are torn on the edges which is easy to repair with ordinary scotch tape on the back.I consider this normal vintage but will let you decide by the pictures. All have the punched out holes at top which you can trim and frame. The pictures were taken with props to help visualize what they may look like in a home. Here for sale is a working A. J. Nystrom pull down wall map case which is made of oak and holds 8 wall maps. The case measures about 19 3/4 by 53 inches and has an A. J. Nystrom. Chicago, stamp on one of the sides. The Oak Case is in very good overall condition. There is some green paint in one area which could easily be cleaned up and the wood restored with finish. The map hardware is in excellent shape and in working condition. See photos. Vintage Nystrom Maps Geographer's Series Canvas Set Of 8 W/Wood Case school IL
Set of 8 huge pull down maps in vintage original wood case. Maps were published by AJ Nystrom Johnston. They are the GEOGRAPHERS SERIES. Maps are of South America. Africa, North America, Far East, State of Illinois, Europe, Asia and the United States. I can't find a date of the maps. Maps are probably from the 30's or so. Germany shows as one country. Alaska is still a territory. Very little damage but some of the pulls need worked with. Some roll up fine with just a little yank. Maps were probably out of an old school room. Bottom of maps are canvas. Shipping is $85.00 or you are welcome to pick up for free. Size of wooden map case is approximately 58" x 17.5" Map sizes are around 43" x 60" I did not see any tears on the maps. Case needs a good polishing. Pull down rings need cleaned as well.

For sale here is a beautiful original vintage historical school pull down map of world printed in Germany in the mid 1950's/ early 1960's Published by Flemmings and edited by Prof. Dr. R Riemeck. The dimensions of this map are(approx) Width(inc poles) 229cm/ 7'6" Length: 167cm/5'5" width measurements include the fastening clip which can be removed. 6-10 cm long) This lovely old historical map of the World in four time periods is decorative and colourful with four maps of the world during different periods in history. The world in 1450-1650 the age of discovery. The world in 1830 during colonization, the world in 1914 before the start of the first world war and the world in 1955. The two lower maps are very colourful while the upper two are more muted in keeping with the time period they are from. This map is in German. ... moreThese beautifully decorative old charts are hugely popular at the moment as you get a lot of interesting wall filler for your money. It is printed on quality paper backed with canvas has black wooden dowels top and bottom and has a cord to hang it from. This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a cupboard so the colours are still very fresh. This map was photographed outside. There is therefore some shadow on the map due to the low winter sun. Obviously this map is not new and there is wear consistent with it's age. So please be aware of this and check all photos. There is some wear near the title bar and some creases down the centre line of the map(see photos) but they are not really that visible when the map is hung. There is white fabric tape along the top edges but this could easily be blacked out with a marker pen to make it less noticeable. This really is a fantastic map. These beautiful old school maps have been used as educational aids for the last 100 years or so. Since the introduction of computers and white boards to schools they have become available to buy. VINTAGE CANVAS OR PAPER SCHOOL MAP WALL BRACKET HOLDER 4 LARGE MAPS Vintage large wall map holder/bracket. This was used on the large school maps. The bracket works by tightening two pieces of metal together with wing nut screws which holds the top of the map secure. The piece is then mounted to the wall. This bracket works best with the maps that have a wood rod on the bottom. This way they have weight to help them hang straight. The bracket measures 45 inches over all, it will hold maps up to this length. The bracket is in nice condition, There is a some light surface rust on the back, if you want it will easily sand off and you can repaint the bracket and it will look ne w. The bracket doesn't look bad now though. You may need to drill custom holes so they match the studs in your wall. This is a heavy duty professional map holder and ... moreto be secure.
