1850's Cotton Nightshirt from France
A lovely nightshirt I purchased years ago at auction from a french dealer. Dated approx. 1846. has wonderful handwork and details and is completely finished inside and out with all seams stitched. Has a beautiful amount of pleating down the front. It measures about a size medium by today's measuring standards. There are some small stains that I have shown in the pictures except for a light pinking that I'm not sure what it is and will not show up in my pictures. I always planned on tea dyeing this and wearing as a dress with belt and cowboy boots.Very wonderful addition to anyone's vintage/Antique apparel closet.

Antique Vintage French 1850 Small Court Sword Saber Marked Klinghenthal France
This is a mid 19th centuryt French small sword. There are 4 lines of text on the ricaso. 2 of them are Klingenthal. France. I can't make out the rest. There is an example of this sword in the book"World Swords" bt Harvey Withers. He calls it a small sword that was probably worn at court, posibly by a diplomat. The grips are mother of pearl. All metal parts of the hilt are of gilded brass. There is some movement to the knuckle-bow where it meets the pommel. Otherwise, the hilt is tight. The T-shaped, or triangular blade is nickel plated. The scabbard is made of some ridged material covered with leather and with brass mounts. Overall, the sword and scabbard are in exelent condition. Civil War 1850 US Army Foot Staff Officer's Sword Antique Rare France
This is an auction for a M1850 Foot Officer's sword made in France and was used by company grade officers of infantry. Artillery and riflemen during the Civil War. The design calls for a single edged 30 ½ inch blade which is enhanced by etched floral scroll work. The overall length is 36 inches. The guard. Knuckle bow and quillion are a single piece of cast brass with a pierced floral or open guard. The markings on the guard are shown in the Photographs. The top edge of the blade also has a Name in French etched in as shown in the photos. This Sword is in good condition and is represented again by the photos. This design for the American model 1850 Sword was based on the French model. The U.S. Army used this pattern until 1872 when the Model 1860 staff and field officers sword was adopted for nearly all officers. Size: The map image measures approximately 9 by 11 inches(23x28cm) on a 11 by 13" page(27x33cm) with a margin all around as seen in the main pic. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original handcoloring as issued. Blank on the reverse, printed on a strong flexible page, not brittle, basically as seen in the pics. There is some darkening and wear around the edges as seen, otherwise it is very clean with a nice antique quality on strong paper that would frame up nicely. But believe this is continental European, possibly French or Italian. The scale sits on a solid base of weighted brass. With a round pedestal and two fluted columns supporting the beams. The arms of the beam are crafted in the stylized shape of fish. With a lion's head acting as the fulcrum for the larger balance. Included are a set of metric weights: 1) 5g. 2) 10g, 1) 20g, 1) 50 g(marked as 1/2 hg, or hectogram) 2) 1hg or 100g, 1) 2hg or 200g, and(1) 1/2kg or 500g. The blade is very sharp on this Antique Maingre-Staurenghi Nogent Marne Straight Razor. From France. It was made between 1850 and 1888 which makes it an amazing 126 to 164 years old! For that age it is in incredible condition. The blade is very sharp and I am not able to find any knicks. The handle is 5 3/4" long and is a pale yellow. The shaving part of the blade is 3 1/3" long by 1" wide. I am unclear as to the exact purpose of the notch at the end of the blade. But it fits well under the nose. The blade has a positive stopping point in its holder, but it opens and closes freely and caution should be taken that it doesn't close on fingers. The blade has a little rust in the area where the joint is attached to the handle. This is shown in the last photograph. This is an incredible piece of history and would be great as ... morea gift.
