RARE Polish Poland antique LION silver plated candlesticks candle holders brass
This is an antique pair of Polish/ Russian Shabbat candle holders. They are silver plated on top of brass. This pair is very rare. And are signed by the maker FABR. WOLSKA inside each of the bobaches. I consider these to be in fine condition. Over the years I have had only a few pairs of this design. But never a pair in such condition. They have full-bodied lions on each of the four sides. The lions are facing head to head with a snake that winds itself onto each of the feet. This pair is very lightweight. Perhaps one pound each. I would say that they retain about 99% of their original plating. I cannot see any traces of brass showing through. The bobaches are original. Each has a slight wobble to them. From over the years having one or two of the feet being bent. But I hesitate to move the feet as I like to keep my antique metalware in as-is ... morecondition. They stand about 13 1/4" high. I am trying to translate the document but not sure if this is what it is supposed to be pamiatki pierwszej komunii swietej = First Holy Communion souvenirs piatr skoczylas = P eter Skoczylas przystapil do pierwszej komunii swietej w kosciele dnia 3 go czerwca sw kazimierza = He joined the first Holy Communion in the church of 3 June 1920. Saint Casimir. I am not sure of the Casimir since Kazimierza is a town in Poland. It is an old piece and has a lot of wear on it. I am assuming it came over to this country with the family. Antique Gold Watch Seal Polish Coat of Arms Bernatowicz Gieysztoff Poland Search Antique 19th century gold pocket watch fob with crest seal bearing a Polish noble family Coat of arms Bernatowicz- Gieysztoff. The intaglio coat of arms. Finely carved into a red carnelian stone, depicts the crowned heraldic shield with horse shoe and an arrow with laurel-branches below. The gold setting is hand made with fine detailed scroll work. The main body is made of 14 K gold. The base of the fob is applied with a band of 9K yellow gold, chased with detailed scroll work. The small round suspension loop on the top of the elaborate repoussé design finial is also made of 9K yellow gold. Since it got worn-out, to prevent farther damage, the interior of the loop was reinforced by copper liner. This watch fob is unmarked. But has been tested so we know ... morethat it is made of 14k and 9K gold. Uncoloured map of the region around Glatz(now Klodzko) entitled Comitatus Glatz and engraved by Kaerius(Van den Keere) from the German edition of the Mercator/ Jansson‘Atlas Minor’ published in 1651. This is a detailed map showing settlements and topography and with a small decorative cartouche and scale of miles. The map area is approximately 205mm x 155mm and with the mount included is approximately 305mm x 255mm.
