A very large wooden Corbel with chippy paint that is from my personal collection and was purchased at an estate sale in New Orleans. Measures 18" wide. 22" tall, and 4 1/2" thick and is quite heavy approx. 14 pounds. Solid but the finial is slightly loose and could be strengthened with glue if desired but it displays nicely as is. Corbel has old chippy white paint. Appears to be the original color. There is some weathered wood, please see photos. All wood construction. Not sure what the wood is either cedar or fir, possibly. Pair Large Antique Heavy Plaster Corbels Wall Shelf 19th c 17"x14"x14" Good vintage condition. They have been painted over. There are a couple areas that have minor damage such as a cracked corner. A chipped front edge and a hole in the deep recess of one of the leaves. All of which can easily be repaired if so desired. Both corbels are marked with a large"14" on top which is likely a size mark being that they are 17" wide x 14" tall x 14" deep. One corbel is marked"J" on top with"SJ" inside. The other is marked"A" on top with"SA" inside. These corbels were purchased 12 years ago from an antiques house in Ireland. I believe they are from ireland or England. I am offering a beautiful VICTORIAN STYLE. WOOD FINIAL ON SQUARE PEDESTAL, ORIGINAL DOWEL. This is a magnificent piece. It measures 6 5/8" high and the square pedestal is 3 1/4" There is some paint spattering on the side, about an inch line of paint and some very slight spattering up from that. Having worked in the antique business for many years, I would NEVER mess with the finish or patina. I could easily strip this off, but so can the person who wants this, at their discretion.
