Antique Carved Wood Architectural Piece. Wall Sconce Up for your consideration is this nice antique wood wall sconce or light bracket/arm. Gold or gilt in color. Has a wall base with an arm extending from the base with a carved laurel detail, could have been an electrified piece at one time with a threaded metal tubing opening at the back and at the top of the extended piece, there is a small piece taken out of the base(see pic) and it has a crack at the inside of the arm close to the base that is cracked through but still intact although it is loose. Not sure if it is staying in place because of the metal tubing inside or it is has been pinned but I would reinforce it somehow if you use it to hold anything. His headwear suggests he might be a knight or a saint(given that he's wearing a visor) and perhaps this corbel comes from a church. The origin is unknown. Pair 19C Carved Plaster / Chalk Swans Wall Brackets Shelf Corbel Vintage Antique
Graceful lines. Flowers and swans adorn these mid-19 th century corbel shelves. We think they are plaster. But they could be chalk. They are very nicely carved, very heavy, and very dirty. The shelves are about 7.5" high. 7.75" wide, and 4.5" deep. There is a hanging hook on the back of each one. They are in very good vintage condition. One of them had a little red something on it. We rubbed it very lightly with a wet towel, and most of it came off, so we think it will clean completely. There are also a few small age-appropriate scrapes on the top of the shelves, and one small chip- see the last picture. Please see the pictures. The CK details: We go to auctions in spurts. They are in awesome shape; clean, no rot, solid, dry, only a few layers of original distressed white paint, so details of carving are well highlighted. Corbels measure approx. 15"x15"x4" and are about 22+" on the diagonal. I used them for a number of years as brackets supporting a large. 4 Assorted Antique Carved Architectural Plinth Block Moldings
Wonderful group of four primitive antique architectural carved wood plinth blocks including a teardrop shape flat back trim piece measuring 10" tall and 2-1/4" deep; a triple ringed bulls-eye plinth measuring about 6-1/4" square by 1-1/4" deep; another bulls-eye or rosette plinth measuring 5-1/4" tall. 4-1/2" wide and 1" deep; and a lovely and an unusual elongated plinth or corner block carved down with a ribbed three leaf clover measuring 8" tall, 4-7/8" wide and 1" deep. All bear original old paint full of chipping, rubbing, paint shrinkage and loss- does not detract a bit. I've been displaying these on my mantle for years- they have a neat architectural look and would be a fun addition to any collection or home! Awesome vintage find! Pair of GORGEOUS carved 1800's Grand Piano legs! They are very ornate and detailed! These would be absolutely beautiful to add to hand made furniture. Use as corbels, to put a shelf on, or just to hang on the wall as an usual focal point! Very shabby, vintage, eclectic design piece! The design possibilities are endless! Large heavy pieces measure approximately 22 1/2" x 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" Beautiful dark wood. One has the wooden screw in the top and a wheel- the other doesn't. These items would probably need to be removed anyway to use as shelving or in designing a piece of furniture. One is marked"9634- 2" and the other is marked"9634- 3" Price is for both. This pair of matching curved triangular shaped corbels is deeply carved with an intricate band of leaf fronds Each stands 6 3/4" H x 2 1/2" W x 6 1/4" D Along with the age-related dry patina in some areas. There are 3 wee surface nicks along the leaf-band edge of one corbel ~and~ one along the narrow bottom edge of the other ~ They're old authentic beauties ready for a creative restoration make-over! These are a pair of antique corbels. They have old yellow paint. I love the design of a flower on the sides, I measured the corbels as they look in the picture, 13 1/2" high, 4 3/4 across front and 8" deep, the wood is not in the greatest shape with some of the wood missing and loose in one picture you can see the wood is loose and needs to be nailed. This Corbel? Graced my husbands Great Grandparents mid 1800's farm house in PA. He was a great woodworker and made many things. It's painted a light gold with some soft green under painting that shows where the gold has chipped off. It is 10' square and 1 1/2" thick. the wood is a little warped as seen in the pictures.Please look at the pictures closely. This would be perfect for someone who loves the"Chabby Chic" look.
