A set of Antique Hand Carved Corbels Door Screen Divider not sure of the proper name for this pair on unique wood carved items. from the estate of a lady that lived for many years in the Philliphens where she collected antiques and brought most of them back to the US. I have more items form this estate listed on ebay. this set is carved from a single piece of wood. and measures 43 1/4 inches long each. 14 1/2 on the wise side and 9 inches on the short side. and they are 5/8 inches thick. there are traces of green and red paint on the pieces. almost all of the paint has been removed.across the top there are small nail holes where they were attached to the wall of ceiling or door jam. really not sure how these were originally used. may have been salvaged from an old temple or estate home. please look at the pictures closely and ask questions. ... morea truly unique and very old item. there is a crack in one of the panels see last picture it does not go very far. The pair of tall brackets have great shape and finials at the top. They are made of oak with alligator-ed paint. Each is 37.5 inches tall with 2.5 wide and 2.25 inches deep. The small set has Eastlake Spoon Carvings and carved finials. They are made of walnut and are currently painted. Each is 20.5 inches tall. 2 inches wide and 1.25 inches tall. Your bid buys the lot. Beautiful Corbels and Posts Made of Walnut or Oak! Antique Hardwood! The Two Corbels measure 5 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" wide. 4 1/4" deep at the widest point. The acorn carved posts measure 17 1/4" tall. 3 1/4" wide, 3 1/4" deep at the widest point. One of the pieces has a 5 1/2" piece of wood missing, 1/2" x 1/2" deep. It doesn't affect the front of the piece. They are beautifully carved. They probably came off the front of an old fireplace. These have many different uses. As a shelf support, pillars, decorative.etc. Small scuff marks. A little wear but very minor! Some nail holes in the sides where they were probably attached to something. See photo's for condition! This handsome yellow ware terra cotta decorative block measures 8 3/8” square x 4 ¼” deep and has an excellent creamy white glaze with lots of age crazing. Its face bears a geometric design inspired by the early designs of Louis Sullivan and it comes from a pre-1920 Chicago structure that was demolished over 20 years ago. It has since resided in the garden of the consignor who is in the process of moving. The proper left side has a loss and bears mold numbers. You will note chips in the glaze on corners and edges. Here are two gorgeous examples of Victorian wood trim in beautiful condition. I am no expert on antiques or architectural salvage. But I did a little research and hope I am using the right terminology. These have been at my parents' home for years if not decades. I grew up in an old house in the 1960s and they may have intended to put them on it, but never did, so they've been safely inside all this time. It's time someone put them to use as shelf brackets, book ends, decorative trim or whatever you can dream up! They measure 14" x 12" and are about 1" wide. They are in very good solid condition with no rot or chips and beautifully jointed corners They even still have a couple of the original mounting nails stuck in them! Antique ca. turn of century pair of corbels. That were taken apart for storage and then sold with the 3 pieces. Frame has tight fit wood joint at angle and I can see the 90 degree"wagon wheel" center piece was nailed to frame originally. Frame together measures 12" x 10" on outside edge and frame measures 1-1/8" square. In very good antique condition. Has few small gauges/chips when it was taken apart. Antique Terracotta Corbel From Antebellum Plantation Home, Natchitoches, La
This terracotta corbel came out of a south Texas estate sale. The family member conducting the sale stated that her parents originally hailed from Tennessee but that. In the 1970s, her father, a librarian, accepted a position in Natchitoches, Louisiana and moved the family there. A compulsive collector, he salvaged this corbel, along with several other pieces, from a crumbling antebellum home in Natchitoches. When he later accepted an offer from our local south Texas university, his salvaged treasures came along. The piece offered here measures roughly 12" x 10" x 7" and weighs slightly over five pounds. Please look at the pictures- you will see that the corbel has some damage in the form of chips. Flaky paint, and cracks. None of the cracks run entirely through the piece, but the one on the bottom should probably be stabilized ... morewith glue or some other agent. The corbel will be carefully packed to avoid further aggravation to the cracks. However. Some additional paint chipping while in transit is inevitable. Shipping via USPS Standard Post will be $14.00. For sale in this auction is a pair of porch brackets or porch corbels for decoration next to a porch post. These are off of a 100 year old house porch that was being torn down. They are made out of wood and most of the paint is gone. They measure approximately 14 inches long on the longest side and 12 inches long on the other side. They are approximately 3 1/4 inches wide on the back side. The tallest part of the decoration measures approximately five and half inches tall. They do have wear. Some cracking, lots of cobwebs and one corner has damage more than the rest. I tried to show that in the pictures.
