Antique Victorian Gingerbread House Corbels 1890s American Architecture Ornament
Here we have a Pair of Two Antique Victorian Gingerbread House Corbels 1890's American Architectural Ornamentation that are in a word. STRIKING. These are rare, stunning, hard to come by, and they are huge! Each one weighs approximately 27 pounds 10 inches a piece, and measure 40 1/4" tall x 23 1/4" wide x 6" side to side with a 9 1/2" height from the top of the finial down to the bottom edge as shown. These are going to need some TLC and repair. The wood is so old that one of the finials has fallen apart, which we have glued back together, and while the larger sections seem sturdy and strong, there are loose pieces and smaller areas that show water rot or decay, that a professional who takes loving are will surly be able to repair and restore, since these are mainly of very good construction. You will have to see ... moreour photos for the best details, and please bid according to your love for these, with the awareness that they are truly in need of some very good care before mounting on your house, or repurposing for other. But they are authentic, breathtaking due to their design as well as their size, and waiting here for just the right person to breathe life back into them. Lovely Pair of Antique Wooden Corbels or Brackets
Two very nice decorative wooden brackets or corbels. I'm not sure what they are or what they came off of or even how old they are. They look Victorian to me. But I am no expert. They would be pretty in the corners of a long doorway or bookcase, holding up shelves, or on a fireplace. They measure about a foot and half at the longest point. There are a few minor scuffs, and one piece is a little loose on top, but overall they are nice solid pieces. We are downsizing our belongings, hoping to move to a smaller home now that children have all grown up and moved away. We have lots of unusual items. Beautiful plaster Corbels for Wall Shelf. Made to look archaic these are a beautiful vintage decor piece with it's old world charm and acanthus leaves design. Antique Late 1800's Corbel reclaimed architectural light green!
This stunning set of light green corbels were reclaimed from a Victorian house situated along the Ohio River. The home these came from was a frequent stop on the under ground railroad. Sadly the home was torn down but I was able to reclaim these architectural pieces. I painted the tops to look like marble and used them as wall sconces but the winning bidder can use them as they see fit. The light green color is original( with many layers of paint and some flaking) and the wood is in excellent condition given the age. All of the adjacent homes along the River were built around the same time. Between 1840 and 1880. These are ready to hang and can be painted to match any decor. Priced to sell. They measure 7 inches tall by 4.5 deep and 3 inches wide. Overall. They are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. We are pleased to offer for auction an Antique Pair of European King Corbels. The corbels are carved to depict two historical kings. Possibly an allegorical depiction with a subliminal message, and would've originally been affixed on either side of an entrance to an 18th century paneled room, such as a library or gentleman's smoking room. The corbels are of European origin, possibly French or English, and would've been for a household of someone of higher social status. They are very cool pieces- they could be hung almost anywhere and it is great to have a pair! HEIGHT: One is slightly larger than the other at 23 inches tall CONDITION: The piece are in fairly good condition for their age. There are minor splits to the wood.
