Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? Chalk ledge matches the board which often times you will find a replaced piece. Board is in good age appropriate condition and does need a good cleaning. Vintage c 1916 American Drafting Furniture Rochester NY Table pivots raises Oak(I believe) is the base wood on this. Wonderfully kept. Raises and lowers by loosening the handles, 180 degree pivot-able, secure, well built, the top itself appears to be birdseye(pls see pic of the wood) but not really sure. diameter of top is 1" it is 40x31" in size; table height goes from 31" to approx. 41" when fully raised; the American Drafting Furniture medallion is secured and in great condition; I base the age on an ad I found online that looks to have this in their 1916 catalog. The wood is in great shape, I do not know if this was refinished, it may be original, I honestly do not know. There is one end where there is some white residue, this may have been some glue used to assist in securing, it is possibly removable- I just left ... moreit alone. Pick up is OK I am in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Likely I will need to disassemble the base to make it less expensive to ship and to reduce the size, it looks like a relatively easy job to take apart and for you to reassemble. He enlisted in 1945 during WWII. He served during 3 wars- WWII. Korean War, and VIETNAM WAR. He retired at Ft. Benning, GA on February 6, 1973 after 28 years of service. He was retired for 23 years when he died on Feb 13. 1996 at the ago of 86. These items were purchased at auction. Were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Vintage Double Rocker& 2 Rocking Chairs Wood Large Oak Patio Furniture Outdoor- 3 pieces and all 3 rock. Will come with original vintage seat cushions that are for optional use.
