Vintage PAIRPOINT C1510 Lion Head & Paw, Seeded Glass Vase, Enameled Flowers
Offered for your consideration is a VINTAGE BLOWN GLASS URN OR VASE circa 1900-1 930 measuring 5 1/2" tall with a 3 3/4"diameter white Cararea marble base. The glass is supported by three PAIRPOINT brass lion heads and paws. One of the lions legs underside is stamped with PAIRPOINT and NUMBER C1510. I had to remove the brass from the marble base to find the name and number on the underside of the leg(see the photo# 10) This piece has a seeded glass urn/vase shape that is trimmed with silver. This is a very rare and incredibly ornate Victorian Reed& Barton silver plated teapot(could it be water pot. Coffee pot or chocolate pot as well. I have never seen such ornate and detailed design before. With the interesting shape and the lions heads on the top of the lid, the interesting design and the mysterious material of the handle, the flowers( came out of the lions mouths, and the human's heads on the legs of the pot. Truly mysterious and beautiful, just an amazing example of Victorian ornate piece. The cream colored material looks like hard pressed plastic or rubber or bone to me. This is an original planter made by Gorham from the 1880's. It has beautiful details around the bowl rim and two lions heads attached to either side. I have been able to find one similar however it did not have the outer etchings of birds bamboo leaves and raspberries. It is solid copper. And has an excellent patina. I have had it for over 12 years and have not attempted to polish or clean it since it is amazing in it's natural state. I know these items are expensive but somehow did not think that parting with it was worth the $. I recently realized that it was time for me to unleash this beauty back ino the world. I have had plenty of time to enjoy it. There are 3 small dents and it is a bit lopsided. I am sure that if you are an antiques dealer there is a way to remove the dents without depreciating the piece. Large Vintage Antique Hand Carved Wood Wall Clock Lion Head 35"
This was purchased from the estate of a master woodworker. The entire lower level of his house was a sawdust filled. Very dusty woodworking shop. I am unsure of it's age but it looks to be quite old and it definately appears to be hand made. It is very dirty and it will need a thorough cleaning. In additiion, it has more than a few scratches and scuffs and a few small chips in the wood, most noticeably on the edge of the decorative scroll work near the bottom. Finally, there is no movement. The actual clock and hands will need to be replaced. Measuring about 35" tall and 9 3/4" across at it's widest point, there is a rusty hook on the back for hanging. A fine and rare antique 19th century bronze door knocker and striker in the form of a satyr or lion head with ears. Wonderful patina- the knocker is not hollow on the back but fully round- an indication of high quality production. Beautiful deep relief decoration throughout including snakes entwined around the knocker. Separate striker is present.
