A fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver Corinthian column candlesticks; part of the ornamental silverware collection at AC Silver. Description. These fine antique English sterling silver candlesticks have a subtly tapering columnar form. The impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick is embellished with a bead decorated upper border and flower medallions to each corner. Interconnected via drape swags, and accented with drape style pendants. Each capital retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce also ornamented with a bead decorated border. The upper portion of each column is decorated with tied ribbon and husk swag designs. Which incorporate the vertical bands of husk decoration which extend the full ... morelength of the column, to the circular colet foot. The candlesticks have square swept bases embellished with embossed husk decoration at each junction in addition to a bead decorated border. The four sides of each base display a central embossed ribbon. Husk and flower medallion motif. Both candlesticks have weighted bases as expected and are fitted with green baize to the underside. Condition These antique sterling silver candlesticks are a very good gauge of silver. Fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. There are minor dings to one column. Materials: This is the famous and authentic"weather column" by Lufft in the rare chrome-plated execution(the most Lufft weather columns are brass-plated) The column features a hygrometer. A barometer, a thermometer and a compass. The"weather column" is famous for it's Bauhaus era design. It consists in glass, a wooden, black-laquered base and three bin feet. The chromium-plate shows some dark stains(like age-appropriated) but no bigger scratches, dents, etc. Some losses of black lacquer on the base. GRECIAN COLUMN This column is 2 feet high and 16 inches square. It has been useful for posing little girls in their dresses just sitting on top with hands on edges. Also it works well for posing newborns strecthed out on top on a frilly little blanket(pewarm top with hair dryer first) It weighs about 18 pounds and I think it is made of fiberglass. Much better than plaster or poly plastic. It is fauxed nicely to bring out the texture and detail. You may pick up at my studio or will ship.

IMPRESSIVE SILVER CORINTHIAN COLUMN CANDLESTICKS, SHEFFIELD 1903
A handsome pair of solid silver candlesticks made by Silversmiths Richard Martin and Ebeneezer Hall and assayed at Sheffield in 1903. They stand 10 1/2" tall(27cm) and weigh a robust 1.64 kilogrammes(nb. loaded-not all silver) giving them a substantial and impressive presence. The candlesticks are of corinthian pattern. They have straight octagonal stems standing on a square raised pediment with beaded edges.The bases are neatly felted. The sconces are of particular note being richly embossed with foliate decoration and have an attractive beaded edging. The pair stand straight and true- no wobbling or leaning. The sconces are firm and level and there is little sign of active use. There are some minor imperfections. Both bases have a number of very small dents. The stems are largely undamanged apart from one very small knock. The sconces ... moreare in crisp undamaged condition. There is none of the pin holes. Splitting, creasing or distortion of silver often found on antique candlesticks. Overall the appearence is very smart and impressive and they are ready for display or use. The hallmarks are clear on both candlesticks for Sheffield. 1903. The maker's mark is clear- RM' above'EH' Martin, Hall&Co were prolific siversmiths during the Edwardian period and their work is well regarded. There are no crests or engraving. Ansonia Open Escapement Cast Iron 6 Column Mantel Clock- Parts / Repair
Offered here is an antique cast iron enameled mantel clock with open escapement by Ansonia of New York for parts or repair. Dating to about 1900. This clock has a classic look with six open columns with green and brass accents. The cast iron case is in great condition with no damage or missing pieces and some expected enamel chips(see the pics) The porcelain face has a couple cracks but is complete and clean. The gold bezel and beveled glass are clean and undamaged. It is an 8 day all brass movement which is missing the hands. Pendulum and key. It is stamped with the Ansonia information. Nothing else seems to be missing and the coiled gong has a nice deep sound. Measurements are 15 1/4" wide x 12 1/4" high x 6 1/4" deep. The face is 4" in diameter. With the missing pieces it has not run but the springs are unbroken. The candlesticks are done in a classical fluted column form. The columns are raised on stepped pedestal bases. And have ornate Corinthian style capitals. The bobeches or wax drips are removable. The candlesticks are heavily weighted for stability. These are very well made pieces, and would make an impressive addition to any table or home's decor. The underside of each of the four candlesticks is stamped with the Gorham hallmark and the word'sterling' Three of the candlesticks have the pipe date cipher for 1911. The remaining candlestick has the date cipher for 1910. ... moreThese candlesticks are in great overall condition. Unfortunately one of the candlesticks is missing its removable bobeche/wax drip. But this actually makes very little difference to the height and appearance of the piece overall. All of the candlesticks have some minor dings, commensurate with age and use. Offered at no reserve for the first time in ten years is this really old Seth Thomas wooden works terry type column and splat transition clock. Seth Thomas is the most popular label for collectors. Seth Thomas found his prime by working with Eli Terry first as his apprentice and then devoting his company as a marketing partner and licensee. Seth Thomas was cautious about change yet bold in moving forward; often bringing the whole industry along. and then Thomas would hang on to an obsolete product line for years. This old transition clock has been touched-up. Repaired and refinished over the years but still has dignity. Collectors love Seth best of all. This one will not disappoint.
