VINTAGE LION PIN CUSHION-SEWING LION FIGURINE- ESD JAPAN It is time for me to downsize and I must part with some of my vintage treasures! Up for auction is this whimsical Lion Pin Cushion- Sewing Figurine. This great ceramic King of the Jungle Lion is approximately 6 1/2 inches tall. He is a golden and tan color with black accents. His red velvet crown is trimmed with gold braid and is a pin cushion holding 7 colorful pins. There is an open area at the top of his nose. I think that held a pair of sewing scissors at one time. There is an indentation on the underneath side with a slot in the side that probably held a measuring tape. The bottom of the lion is stamped in blue with a wreath with lion on top. ESD JAPAN. There is also the original foil sticker"An Enterprise Exclusive, Toronto, Canada" This charming lion is in good condition ... morewith no chips or cracks. This is a really fun piece. This dog is cute if you are familiar with these item you know most appear to be cracked under the coating. this one looks that way there is a small chip on the front of the hind left leg that is brought to the front. The lady that sold it to me stated she belived it was pre 1950'ish so I will leave that one up to you. I know people love this kind of stuff on ebay so I decited to try to sell it. I will start off cheap with this one since it is a bit chipped not even bad at all. it does need to be cleaned. me and the hubbly decited it may be a beagle. Sweet little terrier pups"Made in Japan" Possibly based on the Bonzo comic book character ceramic salt and pepper shakers. I'M PEP" and I'M SALT" states each figure on the chest. Decorative gilt on each paw with one black ear and one orange ear each and red lips/tongue. The pepper shaker has smaller openings on the top while the salt has larger. Cute expressive painted face detail. Condition is good overall. Several cracks in the glazing and manufacturing flaws such as areas where the ceramic looks split or feels rough to the touch from excess ceramic pieces. A few worn areas of paint.
