The art deco ... morestyled decor consists of Greek key trim around the rim& feet. Gilding, cloisonne style painted details that are simply amazing to behold. There are two pairs of painted eyes between two of the feet, you would want to display this bowl with those in the front. There is an example of this shape bowl, in a photo, on page 122(plate 1337) of the book The Collector's Encyclopedia of Nippon porcelain 3rd series by Joan F. Van Patten. The bowl measures approximately 7 1/8 inches tall, 5 3/8 inches wide across the rim, 6 1/4 inches wide. It is marked on the bottom with the green M in a wreath hand painted Nippon. The mark should date this to between 1911-1921. The bowl is heavy& weighs approximately 1 lb 13 oz. The bowl has been examined by black light. is in good condition for it's old age; no chips, cracks or repairs, but there are some scratches& wear areas, as would be expected with it's old age. BOTH ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL CORK STOPPERS. BEAUTIFUL HANDPAINTED BIRDS. THE BACKGROUND IS A VERY SOFT LIGHT BLUE. THESE REALLY ARE LOVELY.
