3 Collectible, Vintage Sad Irons
3 Vintage sad irons from an old 1900's Oregon homestead. 7" iron with trivet 6" solid iron(rusty) 6" Dover iron with removable top These are very rustic SAD iron made of cast iron. They are very dense. Solid and heavy. Only one is marked Dover. The trivet has three legs. These pieces were manufactured between 1890 and 1910. Each weighs over 6 pounds. These are wonderful, primitive piece of Americana. Check back with us often. We're liquidating a 100+ year old homestead with 4, large outbuildings and will be posting lots of new items weekly! Two Antique Chinese silk irons with enamel handles
This is a lot of two silk irons that both have enamel handles. The largest one is 7 inches long. The side of the largest is decorated with a man fishing on one side and flowers on the other side. The enamel handle has floral decoration. It is signed China on the bottom. The large one has some loss to the enamel handle. The smaller silk iron is 4 ½ inches long. It is decorated with a dragon on the side. The enamel handle is decorated with Mandarins sitting around a table. There is wear to the high points on the enamel handle. The bottom is signed Made in China. We date both of these to between 1900 and 1920.

Cavalry saddle with leathers and irons. Prof essionally dated to the 1890's. This saddle is COMPLETELY FIELD STRIPPABLE. T hese saddles were designed to be field stripped for the best cleaning and conditioning of all parts and to make field repairs. The seat is removed by straighte ning the box ring on the top of the pommel. Then on either side pulling the leather straps through a box ring s. Finally. The seat is slid up and back off the brass edged hook on the cant le back. This exposes the leather ties and webbi ng on the fabric covere d wood tree. The pommel was reinforced in original manufacture and has original r ivets. Leather of the seat and skirts is sm ooth with a minimum of wear. Superficial marks appear to be simply from age and improper storage over the years. The flaps are most likely buffalo hide. See p hoto of the deep ... morewrinkles. Which would indicate the neck skin was used. Original horsehair stuffing under cloth. T he stitching is intact on all the leather. The safety latches for the leathers are present. Complete and working. Most holes on billets and on leathers nic ely round. Saddle has all i ts bu ckles. Box and D- rings. Stirrups are etched AGM Bros. There is a slight curve to the end of the flaps, see photos(frankly we' ve seen a lot worse with some newer leather saddles tha t have been brought in here to The Blacksmith Shoppe) If carefully conditioned this c urve could be eliminated for display purposes. This is a very good display pie ce only. It is not sold as rid e able.

Any standard key will open them but its not the right thing to do because of the alignment of keypost and inner locking mechanism is important. Pretty sure these were made between 1945 and 1950 in Chicago Illinois. IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION for their age! The one rivet where bow swings is showing more on one cuff then the other. This auction is for a print ad for Universal Irons. The ad came from a large oversized magazine. So it measures about 5.5 x 13.5 inches(it was a half page ad) It isn't dated, but it came from a 1954 magazine. It was carefully removed from the magazine and has been neatly trimmed. The page has curling/creasing on the lower left corner, otherwise it's in excellent condition, with bright colors and no tanning or yellowing from age. The pages are separated from the magazines by removing the glue from the binding to keep the ad in the best condition possible.
