This is very clean and bright and beautiful, great details of flourishes and swirls with leafy elements at the base where the light bulbs go as well as the little screws that hold globes over the lights to diffuse the brightness. Unfortunately, not all of the screws are with the piece; we can see three of the six holes have them. We don't see a maker's mark or other identification. This measures approx. 15" tall and 10 ½" wide, standing approx. 6" from the wall. Our guess is towards the end of the 19th Century. The company was known for it beautiful and special silverplated"art display" pieces. Many pieces from this company feature animals or mythological creatures. True to the times when Victorians were enamored with naturalistic and fantastical subjects. This candelabrum illustrates characteristics of the Art Nouveau style with its twinning and elongated arms. Repousse roses and leaves. This company displayed a similar nautilus bowl at the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago. Description The candelabrum stands about 6" tall from table to the top of the candleholder. 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" wide. The piece came to us cleaned. This is quadruple plated. Which means that the silver is between.12 to.20 mm thick and plated on nickel silver(alloy of copper, zinc& nickel) The piece is marked, Hard White Metal" 39, which indicates the metal used. The piece is heavy and weighs 3 lb 7 oz. The piece has removable candle cups to aid in cleaning and to transform the piece into a more ornate design. The candle cups made the piece more expensive originally. Condition The piece is in excellent condition. And which is amazing for its age. No chips, dents or missing pieces are noted. We ran our hands over the whole piece and not a single rough edge was detected. The only issue is that one of the candleholders is lower than the others. This can be fixed easily.
