I can't imagine what it must have been like to have the house wired with gas! This very ornate piece has a butterfly or firefly printed on the valve itself. A flower-like image on the sides and the connection is also decorated! This would be a great piece to restore an old lamp. Create odd and interesting art, garden art or a steampunk sculpture! Use your imagination! Condition: for its age. This valve is in excellent condition, and very clean. There are a couple of places I saw some wear when I really looked, just below the valve itself(see picture) there is a small piece of the finish worn off, most of the wear is finish wear.
