The porcelain cap/knob is clearly marked"waste" and appears that it would turn in one direction to hold the bath water. The other to drain it. The cap is attached(permanently as far as I can tell) to a nickel hardware fixture that is a total of 2.5" in length and 1.5" in diameter. There are two nipples on either side of the tube that I assume are for securing the fixture to one position(hold water) or another(drain water) In the lot where this came from is a long porcelain escutcheon(5" tall; 2.5" diameter at one end; 4" diameter at the other) that looks like a mini nuclear plant tower.
