This is a very rare and ornate piece which was used to plug the drain hole in a sink back before the days of the built-in stoppers. These would usually have a nice chain attached to the ring located on the top so it would remain by the sink and not get lost. The old green paint has flaked off.The door opens and latchs real good. The door joints are a little loose need glued or tightened up. Antique Victorian Bathroom Wall Mount Cup Or Shaving Mug Holder
This is a great looking antique Victorian bathroom wall mounted cup or shaving mug holder. It probably dates circa 1890 to 1910. It protrudes from the wall 7 1/2 inches(19 cm) The mount piece that attaches to the wall measures 2 1/4 inches across(5.7 cm) It will fit a shaving mug or cup with a 3 1/2 inch base across(8.9 cm) Each of the four individual standing pieces measures 2 1/2 inches high(6.4 cm) I'm not exactly sure what it's made of. It's not iron because a magnet won't stick to it. It's copper colored. So it's probably either copper or a copper wash over spelter. The entire piece can move side to side when attached to the wall. The cup section turns. It has a very old hairline crack measuring approximately 1/2 inch(1.27 cm) long where one of the four stands meets the base(please see photo) However. 1920's VICTORIAN SOLID BRASS FAUCET! This is a spectacular 1920’s Solid Brass Bathroom Faucet with Porcelain HOT and COLD control knobs. This piece is fully functional and was pulled out of an old Victorian home. Underneath and inside the bottom are markings of“4” and“R” There are no other markings to be found. This faucet is very heavy weighing 4lbs. 6ozs. The original patina is as found and is very noticeable on the faucet. The HOT and COLD Porcelain knobs measure 2-1/2” wide and 1-3/4” high and they both turn and open and close nicely. This faucet has not been washed. Cleaned or polished. This unusual Victorian cup holder is one we've never seen before. It's quite solid and in great condition with no breaks or cracks. No repairs or dings. It has a brass or gold wash that's worn as you can see in the pictures but the base metal isn't aluminum- it's far too heavy for that.
