Antique French Marble Hotel Sink On Counter Very Rare
You are bidding on an antique french hotel marble sink. This item is very sturdy and strong. I did not see any cracks in the marble. This item is available for inspection. All measurements are close but not exact. I have added two pictures of the basin opening. The opening is 14 3/4" in diameter. There are not any holes for faucets. Here is a great old marble top sink. Complete with TePeCo cast porcelain basin; this style of sink was very popular in the late 1800's. There is a crack at the center hole in the marble that goes clean though. This should be reinforced prior to installation(see pics) This is finished on 3 sides. So this can be placed in the open and not necessarily in a corner. This also appeared to have brackets for support judging by the holes underneath. Though ... morethere are no support pieces included. The bowl was separated for cleaning, and all of the attachment hardware is in good shape, note that this will be broken down into components for delivery. The basin is in good shape with just a few tiny pocks in the glaze. The finish is lightly scuffed in spots from years of cleaning. But overall it's in excellent shape for being over 100 years old! The marble is fairly worn with some scratches and scuffs. Overall the marble is relatively dull, though marble can be polished(that patina is desirable to some, it's really personal taste) Please check all photos for condition. It is pretty large- the sink top is 20" x 30" The back splash is 12" tall x 30" wide, the oval sink hole is 11" x 14" and the sink when mounted is 8" deep. This is very nice authentic marble stone milled with a 3 dimensional raised rim so any splashing drain back into the sink. There are just a couple little flea bite chips similar to the on shown in the last photo, and the sink mounting brackets are missing. This is a multi-part Victorian bathroom sink unit. So listen carefully and I'll go through it piece by piece. First. The centerpiece is the marble countertop, which measures about 24" x 20" and is cut with three holes- two at the back for faucets and a big one in the middle for the sink. It is about 1¼" thick and is bullnosed around the front and sides, as well as having a top specially contoured for drainage. Next is the sink. Which is attached to the bottom of the marble by three clamps. I haven't attempted to remove the clamps, so I don't know whether there's more holding the sink and marble together, like maybe plumber's putty. The sink appears to be porcelain, and it has an inside diameter of about 12" at the lip. It has overflow holes at the back, which appear to connect to an internal passage ... morethat connects to the drain pipe below the stopper. There is a piece of drain pipe attached to the drain hole, which doesn't add much to the value. Third is the matching marble backsplash. Which is a little under 1" thick and measures about 24" x 10" It is beveled around the top and sides, and has a few chips around the edges, some of which will be visible unless you either recess it or border it with some kind of edge trim. And finally. Bolted to the backsplash with a decoratively turned brass anchor pole, is the rubber stopper and metal chain, the latter being two different chains knotted together to create a customized after-market extension. The marble pieces. And to some extent also the inside of the porcelain bowl, are marred with red spots that appear to be paint overspray. I haven't attempted to remove these- you know my luck- but they might just scrape off without having to use chemicals or strippers. And, in case you hadn't noticed, we don't have faucets for it, and you'll have to create your own supports, whether it be brackets or legs or a built-in vanity. Old Sink Faucet Pair 1880 Patent Nickel Plated Brass Old Vtg Antique (Marble)
Interesting early hot and cold water faucet pair with nickel plated brass construction. They are marked New Haven Jany 6 1880. See: http:www.google.com/patents/US223374) They will stand almost 6 inches tall above a counter and they measure about 5 1/2 inches overall from front to back. These would be perfect on an old marble sink. They are uncleaned and untested. Each has pipe-wrench chewing on their bodies and other sections. There is some tarnish with some tiny blistering and some loss of plating. The hot faucet handle does turn and stop. The cold faucet handle turns freely without stopping. Antique Marble Sink Brackets, Nickel Plated Rope Design
Pair of Antique Nickel Plated Brass Sink Supports Matching pair of supports or brackets for old marble sinks. These supports attach to the wall and project at an angle to support the marble towards the front of the sink. Classic Victorian decorative rope design from the late 19th century. Nickel plated over what I assume is brass. These brackets were painted over at some point and some of the paint still remains in a few spots and crevices. Can be removed with a little bit of elbow grease. The nickel plating is in overall good condition with some minor loss in places. The"back side. or side which will be less visible upon installation, shows more of the surface loss. Minor oxidation in places. Structurally sound with no cracks or breaks.
