Up for sale is a rather strange dental instrument from the early days of dentistry. A SS White Dental MFG. Co. Spittoon. It measures almost 6" high by just under 8" across. There are a few dings( I rotated around in pictures to show) There is a rattle in the bottom(weight is loose, My first thought was teeth lol) All and all not in bad shape for being over 100 yrs. old. Antique S S White Dental Mfg Co Nickel Plated Brass Dental Spittoon
An original antique nickel plated brass dental spittoon which was made and is marked on the underside of its base by the S S White Dental Manufacturing Company. The spittoon measures approximately 7 1/4" tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter at the top. The top section can be screwed off to allow for access to the interior for cleaning. The spittoon is in very nice all original condition with only some minor wear and slight dents as shown. A very unusual antique late 19th century item for the collector of dental/ dentistry related items. Item is completely fresh to the market from the estate of an old time collector. White Technologies. Inc. started life in Philadelphia some 162 years ago as a tooth factory founded by Dr. Samuel Stockton White in 1844 with a work force of three. Samuel Stockton White was born on June 19. 1822 to William Rose White and Mary Stockton in Hulmeville, Pennsylvania. By the age of 21 he was practicing dentistry in his uncle's firm and supervising his manufacturing department. The next year, in 1844 young Samuel set up his own tooth factory in the attic of a house in downtown Philadelphia and practiced dentistry downstairs. Samuel Stockton White's little tooth factory became. Over the decades, the largest dental manufacturing ... morecompany in the world-with sales offices in New York, Boston and Chicago; and catalogues in Spanish, French and German. Dr. White was a visionary and a tireless inventor with ten patents to his name. His products earned eighty medals for excellence from the great industrial institutes in the U.S. and were as esteemed in Europe as they were in the United States. He inspired creativity and initiative in his employees. Such as Dr. Eli T. Starr(1834-1904) whose mechanical and inventive genius contributed most to the excellence of S.S. White Company. Dr. Starr had over a hundred patents to his name. Dr. White was also an enlightened businessman. He employed a black chemist in his laboratory when blacks rarely found anything but menial jobs. His company published"Dental Cosmos. a respected chronicle of dentistry, and assumed a major role in educating other dentists. This appears to be a forward/reversing speed controller for a dental drill of some type. Foot control. I assume the dentists controls the speed with his foot. I don't know much else about this. Look at the pictures for condition issues. There a 4 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. When you move the pedal in either direction there are detents that you can feel engage. There is a heavy gage cord coming out of the unit with an 8 pin connector that is a little over 1-5/8" diameter. The pins are.129Ø and are numbered. They are on 1-1/8" centers. Hello. Here we have a dental tool from the 1920s in a box. Tool: 6 1/4 inches long. It reads"GIRARD STAINLESS USA M.D-U.S.N. EXP 17" I'm not sure if this tool is in it's original box. But the owner said it always went with it. Her grandfather was a dentist(she's now 88) The box reads: S.S. White Made in United States of America" STOCK No. 11-880(TARNO) S. S. WHITE EXPLORER HL. No. 6" THE S. S. WHITE DENTAL MFG. CO. Philadelphia, Pa. The box is bent in the middle and has some stains on it. The bottom portion of the box has two numbers on the bottom- 145157 and 0445. Early Dentist Chair Headrest by S.S.White Dental Mfg.Co. NR
Early headrest that fits a cast iron dental chair by the SS White dental company. The headrest itself is very heavy made of steel that was nickle plated, it looks to be complete with all kinds of wooden knobs and adjustments, it measures about 16in. long by about 10in. across and very heavy the headrests themselves that are covered with leather, I think it's quite a rare item as the only complete chair I've ever seen was in the Eli Buck collection that sold last year, if you are into or collect early dental items you may have or know someone that needs this headrest, I'm sure you won't see another one right away.

Antique S. S. White Dental Mfg Co Cuspidor/Spittoon Mid to Late 1800s Very Rare
Up for bid is an extremely rare antique dental cuspidor/spittoon. This is in good shape for its age. It has two small splits on the top of the globe and a couple of areas on the base that appear to be dent marks. I tried to show these in the photos. It's made by the S.S. White Dental Mfg. Co. These go for $90 on up. The diameter of the top is 7 3/4" and measures 5 1/2" high. It has the patina you would expect from an item this old. The winning bidder will pay $8.95 towards shipping. Antique S S White Dental Mfg Co - Automatic Mallet - Original Box - Dental Tool
Antique S S White Dental Mfg Co- Automatic Mallet- Original Box This vintage dental tool was used to tamp amalgam into fillings. The length of the device is just over 5-1/2 inches. This device acts similar to a snapping center punch. You push on it and when the force is high enough. The weight releases inside and it taps the amalgam into place. The adjustment works fine for setting a heavy or light blow. The condition is flawless! The chrome is bright and shiny. The box is in good shape with the box bottom having 2 broken corners. A little water soluble kraft tape on the inside would be an easy repair. Let me know and I'll cut a couple and throw them in. You can attach them if you want. Bid with confidence. Pleased to provide antique Dental items! This SS White Dental Manufacturing Co. wooden box features dovetails and and a latch which is in excellent condition. The wood on the top has wear. Please see pictures for verification. The bottom of the box has some scratches as well from wear. The interior of the box top is covered in a blue velvet type fabric featuring SS White Filling Porcelain. Inside you'll find 3 glass droppers; 2 small and 1 large. The rubber tops on the droppers are slightly cracked from age and storage. There is a box labeled as containing 50 celluloid strips. I did not take the strips out to count so there may be less than 50 but the strips contain the SS White Mfg Co. seal on them! There are Kryptex Glass bottles with stoppers some liquid remains in a few of the bottles. There is also one cork stopper. Also included ... morein a Haynes Stellite tool. Lastly. There is filling porcelain in glass bottles featuring the following colors; white(3/4 full) light brownish gray(full) yellowish light gray(1/4 full) unknown color label is no longer attached(1/4 full) and light yellow(3/4 full) They feature glass stoppers.
