S.S.WHITE BELT DRIVEN FOOT ENGINE AND DENTAL DRILL
The Antique Dental Belt Driven Foot Engine has been manufactured by S.S. White Company of Philadelphia PA Made in the US of A. The"Treadle Drill" is 56.5 inch tall and has an expandable arm that swings back and forth with a drill resting attachment. The decorated fly wheel and pedal action spin freely to turn the drill. Base is cast iron with S.S. White Logo. All parts of foot engine are original parts including belt and are in new condition. Except handpiece is not original part but in good condition. Dental Drill Antique SS White Cable Engine Cast Iron Foot Manual Hand Piece 1903
Excellent antique dental drill. Has a patent date of March 17 1903. Has pictured cord that is knotted in a couple of spots and does not fit around wheels. When the top wheel is spun you can see/feel the cable spinning at the other end near the hand piece. But the inner part of the hand piece(where the bit would go) does not spin. I am not sure and make no guarantees of the potential or ease of refurbishment. The wheel turns nicely when the pedal is manipulated, and as a whole the unit seems like it would function well from pedal to end of cable with a belt attached. Weighs 23 lbs and stands 55" tall. Measurements are approximate. The piece will be shipped in 1 box, but 3 pieces as the crossbar and cable, center vertical shaft and the engine part seperate easily. This is an Emesco 92N Teledyne Hanau belt driven dental drill in very good condition. This is a great tool for precision carving. Inlay work& fret repair work for the luthier. It runs either forward or reverse. Engine runs smoothly and quietly. Belt is in very good condition. Drill has NO bits. Comes with the Command Foot Control shown. Antique Ritter Dental Drill/Light Engine Switch Motor Speed Foot Control
This is the foot control from a Ritter dental unit probably from around the 1920's. The unit appears funtcional although I have no way of testing it, The nickel finish is worn in spots no doubt due to the years of use. The cord looks to be in great shape as well as the rubber removable boot for hard surface floors. The boot comes off to reveal a more textured surface possibly for carpeted flooring. Unit is extremely heavy and measures 7 3/8" around at base and 5 1/2" in overall height. Worth noting my packaging skills far out weight my photography skills. Thanks for looking.

Vintage Ritter Dental Engine/Drill, Foot Controller, 2 BDMC handpieces ~ works!
Vintage Ritter Dental Engine/Drill. Foot Controller, 2 BDMC handpieces ~ works! Vintage Ritter Dental Engine/Drill + Foot Controller unit made by the Ritter Company. Inc. Rochester, New York. This is a countertop unit that requires custom installation. I am not certain of the actual year of manufacture but I know the unit was made before 1960. It belonged to my father who likely purchased it during dental school(1955-1960) The handpieces(BDMC, Japan) presumably are newer. The engine and controller are in good working and cosmetic condition. There are signs of age and use on the engine and arm(light tarnishing and soiling) The foot controller has some wear and light rust spots on the top and a heavily-rusted area on the bottom. But the arm swivels smoothly. The belts run smoothly, and the tension control knob works fine. The foot pedal works ... morein both forward and reverse positions. The"quick stop" buttons on the top work but sometimes the pedal overshoots the neutral position and must be nudged into neutral. See foot controller demo video below. This is a very nice vintage dental collectible that could also be used for hobbies requiring fine drilling or sanding work.
