Bone-handled dental instrument believed to be from the turn of the century. There are no maker marks on this at all. Condition is excellent. You can see some wear around the edges of the face of the mirror and around the place where the mirror and the handle connect(see photos) It's a delicate and beautiful piece. This auction is for an unusual dental mirror or inspection mirror which has a heavy patina of age and is of unusual construction. I have researched the mark METLGLAS 44A9555 which is on the rear of the mirror. And this mirror could date from the late 19th Century(or perhaps Civil War Era) to early 20th Century. The mirror is approximately 7 inches in length, the mirror surface has an age related crack/rip through its surface and the surface of the mirror is discolored from age. Here's an antique S.S. White dental tool with a rosewood(I think? handle(ca. 1870-1890) This is an estate find and hasn't seen the light of day in decades! The end piece unscrews. And the handle would thus be interchangeable with other end pieces. The handle measures 4 5/8" not including the end piece. It is marked with the'SWS' trademark and also stamped"The S.S. White Mfg. Co. This tool is in good condition, but isn't"flawless. The handle for this item is bone and it has a lever that when held down it tips the mirror up or down. Depending on which way you are holding the handle. There is no markings on this item so I am unsure who the maker is. It has a curved shaft and it is overall about 10 inches long. 1895-1915 Dental Extraction Forceps "Serpent & Crown Mark" Curved w/Loop Handle
I cannot identify the maker of these forceps. All of the dental forceps I have listed came from the personal"doctors bag" of a Dr. G Nordlander(bag pictured) that we purchased over 20 years ago along with many other dental items. Everything in the bag and his many other dental items were late 19th century and early 20th century. The bag is not included in this sale.

A pair of root forceps from Ash& Son manufacturer. I have many advertisements from trade publications and the company's own 1908 catalogue(which almost has the thickness of a copy of War and Peace. that place this tool firmly within the stated timeframe. Has some mild corrosion as can be seen. 1880-1900 Dental Extraction Forceps SS White Curved and Arched Handle
A nice pair of forceps from SS White. These are early handle versions indicative of 19th cenry form. Although the curved handle(bowed handle w/thumb loop) can be found through the early 20th century. This type with the arched handle seems to have been phased out after the turn of the last ventury. Its hard to date these, but this seems to be a fair assessment based on comparables. Has some corrosion as seen in pictures, but is in nice overall condition.
