Small American Cabinet Co. Arts & Crafts Dental Jewelry Cabinet Mission Oak
I think that this was originally designed as a locking dental cabinet(there is still an old dental drill bit rolling around in one drawer) but it would also make a fantastic jewelry cabinet with the addition of some felt or velvet lining. It is made of quarter-sawn oak and has miniature glass knobs. It measures approx. 11" wide by 8 1/2" deep by 13 1/4" high and has 7 drawers. Some of them fitted with dividers. It is marked on the top with a stamped brass tag which reads"American Cabinet Co. Wood Goods" Condition wise, I'd give it about a 7 out of 10 as it is solid but has some chips and dings(I do believe they would look acceptable if colored in) the metal holder on the side has some surface rust, and the original leather carrying handle on the top is torn. One of the glass knobs appears to be red, but it is ... morejust paint on the back side of the knob which might be original. The drawers lock with a rod which passes down through the top and then through the back panel of each drawer, the rod being locked into place with a mortised lock- I don't have the key. American Cabinet Co. Patent Pending” 41335 oak cabinet has three black glass doors with milk glass shelves over beveled mirror over black glass counter with 22 shelves of varying sizes(11 shelves each side with six instrument drawers)and includes 36 milk glass components and 22 dental instruments plus drills. Vintage Ransom & Randolph Oak dental cabinate 25" by 57" beautiful
this Ranson and Randolph oak dental cabinate is in very nice cond and was purchased 40 years ago at a garage sale in holland mi. the cabinate was painted green at that time and we had it stripped and refinished. the drawer face above the locking door or bottom door(the brass hinged set of drawers) was replaced. also the miror glass was either professionally repaired or replaced.the lower four drawer pulls are not correct. the rest if the cabinate is in fine cond and the locking device works perfect and the key is with it.the makers name is on a brass plake on the inside if one of the drawers. hope these pictures show what everything looks like. One-of-a-Kind. Victorian Dental Cabinet with unique features. Made by Ransom& Randolph, Toledo, Ohio. Rounded glass sliding door contains three round 12-inch wood trays that pivot out on metal arms. Slide out writing board. Slide down, 4 row bur holder. Slide up glass door for 3 pharmacy shelves. Swing out glass door for a pull out"Buggy-Box" for making house calls. Buggy Box contains 7 drawers. The 4 cabinet pull out drawers, all dovetailed. 1 flip-down wood door for storage area. Brass hardware. 2 sides are raised panel. The back is finished in flat panel so designed to be free-standing. Front feet are round with scalloped design. Wear on one corner, looks like where the dentist pushed in the drill bits. Please carefully view photos for you to assess condition. Note that there are some ink or medicine stains in the wood but ... morethat, to me, lends authentic charm. This piece is in very good condition. All the detail in this item can not be captured completely through the photos. Measures 33-inch wide. 22-inch deep and 72-inch high. This was a top-of-the-line cabinet. In its day. The rounded glass door is unique. All the doors and drawers that pull up, down, swing out were special. The workmanship makes it a fine piece of furniture, far more than just a piece of old dental equipment. Found a NSF check, in the cabinet addressed to Dr. Walters, in Iowa, dated Nov. 1926. This unique piece has been enjoyed in our home for many years. It was a wedding present for my husband but now it needs a new home. Local pick-up only. Located in Chicagoland.
