Samuel Stockton White was born on June 19. 1822 to William Rose White and Mary Stockton in Hulmeville, Pennsylvania. By the age of 21 he was practicing dentistry in his uncle's firm and supervising his manufacturing department. The next year, in 1844 young Samuel set up his own tooth factory in the attic of a house in downtown Philadelphia and practiced dentistry downstairs. This appears to be a forward/reversing speed controller for a dental drill of some type. Foot control. I assume the dentists controls the speed with his foot. I don't know much else about this. Look at the pictures for condition issues. There a 4 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. When you move the pedal in either direction there are detents that you can feel engage. There is a heavy gage cord coming out of the unit with an 8 pin connector that is a little over 1-5/8" diameter. The pins are.129Ø and are numbered. They are on 1-1/8" centers. But the owner said it always went with it. Her grandfather was a dentist(she's now 88) The box reads: S.S. White Made in United States of America" STOCK No. 11-880(TARNO) S. S. WHITE EXPLORER HL. For sale is an antique Electro Dental Mfg Co office size air compressor. Unit came from the estate of a local man so I don't know much about it's history. The unit powers on a runs good(belt is a little loose) I believe it needs a new gauge. It is powered by a 1/8 HP Emerson Motor. Some rust can be found mainly on the top. The outer case has a few dents and dings but most of these I have seen are missing the case all together. Would make an excellent hobby size compressor or a great restoration project. This is a Lee Smith& Sons Aseptic Dental Cabinet by The Bown Steel Co. Pittsburgh. PA. This is a very rare piece that was manufactured between 1900 and 1909. The glass doors are beveled and are hung on very unique heavy gauge circular hinges. There are 6 drawers that swing open and are mounted on circular hinges. The two bottom doors also use the same hinges. The hinges and knobs are brass and the complete piece is in good condition overall. Antique vtg articulating Burton Mfg. Co. medical dental light fixture lamp 1932
Cool dental lamp made by the Burton Manufacturing Company. The patent was approved in 1932 so it's an early piece but still 20th century. The lamp is made up of various materials. The main body is metal and parts are faux painted to look like wood. The handle at the top is actually wood. The hexagonal rod is chrome plated brass while the top housing is chrome plated steel and is quite rusty. The black shade is actually bakelite and is undamaged. Lastly there's a opal glass cover that clips over the light bulb. That piece is also undamaged. This light needs some serious cleaning but the socket accepts a regular standard base light bulb so this would make an AMAZING lamp! I will be taking this apart as much as I can so the wires will be cut. The last 4 photos are the patent drawings from Google. I am not obviously offering those drawings.

Includes: Amazing Brass tooth plate for forming the shape and points of the crown. 32 brass teeth punches for shaping the crown and 25 punches for forming the crown blank. Once it is filled, simply press hard on the tip of the pen, and a'shot' is injected. Believed to be used for amalgam, not anesthetic, simply because the amount of pressure on the tip of the pen is hard/heavy before the substance is injected. This is antique dental equipment. It has great character and has been well taken care of. Everything in the picture will come with purchase. Only blemish I caught was the chip in the bottom of one of the sprayers. Its in the pictures. There is no hole. It's just under the filling section. I wasn't sure what the flat thing was but my dentist said it had to do with flattening a part of dentures. I still don't understand. If you have any questions please ask.

Early headrest that fits a cast iron dental chair by the SS White dental company. The headrest itself is very heavy made of steel that was nickle plated, it looks to be complete with all kinds of wooden knobs and adjustments, it measures about 16in. long by about 10in. across and very heavy the headrests themselves that are covered with leather, I think it's quite a rare item as the only complete chair I've ever seen was in the Eli Buck collection that sold last year, if you are into or collect early dental items you may have or know someone that needs this headrest, I'm sure you won't see another one right away.

EARLY W.M. SHARP MFG PHILADELPHIA. PA DENTAL SHELL CROWN PRESS Heavy cast iron. It is 7 1/4" tall with the press closed all the way down. When fully open it is 9 1/4" tall by 6 1/4" wide at base and 4 3/4" deep from front to back of base. The plate is approx 3 1/4" in diameter. This Dental Shell Crown Press was made by the W.M. Sharp Co. in Philadelphia. PA. The different size pins corresponded to the various sizes of teeth. In use. The pin plate was retracted, and a thin metal disk was placed over the desired hole size. As you turned the screw handle, the pin was forced through the hole, drawing the metal disk into a cup shape. The hollow cup was removed from the press, and the anatomy was formed by placing it over a metal tooth die, and hammering or burnishing the required form. The margins were created, the hollow ... morecup was filled with a filler material to give it some strength, and it was then cemented on the patients' prepared tooth. This device is mostly cast iron, with triple guide rods, and a double geared Acme threaded rod to drive the press. It moves freely up and down. Screw down holes are located at the front and back sides of the base for attachment to a table. Ornate informational escutcheon plates are fastened onto the front and back of the heavy metal frame. Would make a unique addition to any antique dentistry collection.

Up for bid is an extremely rare antique dental cuspidor/spittoon. This is in good shape for its age. It has two small splits on the top of the globe and a couple of areas on the base that appear to be dent marks. I tried to show these in the photos. It's made by the S.S. White Dental Mfg. Co. WELCOME TO MY AUCTION Here is a vintage piece of museum worthy dental equipment. For sale is a dental rubber vulcanizing tool called a CROSS BAR. It has stamped on the top“CROSS BAR” vulcanizer. Dental mfg. co. Buffalo NY. I believe it was made by the BUffalo Dental Mfg. Co. 4-1/2in. forged steel, pat. Oct. 2, 84. The top cover is forged steel, with a wooden handle, one small crack in wood, the pot is heavy copper. Has a couple relief valves on top and a thermometer, with a screw on metal cover, thermometer looks like it would work. glass is not broken, marks still visible. The thermometer has a trade mark“BuffDentCo” on it. A dentist would put the teeth and rubber dental plate inside the copper pot and then it was placed in a high temperature heating unit, this vulcanized the teeth into the rubber dental plate. Just when you think you might like to have lived back around the turn of the century. You come across something like this and it makes you glad it's 2015. This is a lot of old antique dental equipment that I'm sure was quite snazzy back in it's day. I'll describe it as best I can. Hopefully the pictures tell you everything you need to know. There is a 10 inch tall cast iron dental press with a separate base for screwing to a table and this press is marked Vydon. There is a brass press with no name but has 3 markings on it and they are FCB-2, FCC60B, and FCB-1-A. There is a small Brass Dental mold that is marked"Just Acrynamel" and it looks like there is an impression of someones tooth inside so if you need a tooth this size you are all set. There is a larger brass dental mold marked O'D Mfg. Co. Los Angeles. ... moreThere is something that looks like a brass handle with no markings.I guess if it isn't a handle maybe they just used it to knock your front tooth out. Anyway, all this stuff weighs about 24 pounds so it looks like a large flat rate carton will be the cheapest to anywhere in the US.

Antique S S White Dental Mfg Co- Automatic Mallet- Original Box This vintage dental tool was used to tamp amalgam into fillings. The length of the device is just over 5-1/2 inches. This device acts similar to a snapping center punch. You push on it and when the force is high enough. The weight releases inside and it taps the amalgam into place. The adjustment works fine for setting a heavy or light blow. The condition is flawless! The chrome is bright and shiny. The box is in good shape with the box bottom having 2 broken corners. A little water soluble kraft tape on the inside would be an easy repair. Let me know and I'll cut a couple and throw them in. You can attach them if you want. Bid with confidence. Pleased to provide antique Dental items! This SS White Dental Manufacturing Co. wooden box features dovetails and and a latch which is in excellent condition. The wood on the top has wear. Please see pictures for verification. The bottom of the box has some scratches as well from wear. The interior of the box top is covered in a blue velvet type fabric featuring SS White Filling Porcelain. Inside you'll find 3 glass droppers; 2 small and 1 large. The rubber tops on the droppers are slightly cracked from age and storage. There is a box labeled as containing 50 celluloid strips. I did not take the strips out to count so there may be less than 50 but the strips contain the SS White Mfg Co. seal on them! Museum worthy late 19th century display box for Davis Crowns by Consolidated Dental Manufacturing NY. This four drawered mahogany box contains approximately 400 porcelain teeth and is labeled by the company. Through some research one can see that the"Davis Crown" was an established standard of the false teeth industry during the first few years of the twentieth century. Pictured above along with the box are two images from a 1904 catalogue published by the Consolidated Dental Mfg Co. featuring the Davis Crowns. One of which is obviously a drawing of a drawer from one of these display boxes(a quick google of the company name and Davis finds this catalogue from the University of Michigan online archives) The box itself shows wear on the corners and outside case. But the drawers are in great condition. Some of the teeth have fallen ... moreoff of their prongs, but can simply be placed back on. A metal box on the top drawer has many of the loose teeth in it for safe keeping(more than enough to replace all the empty prongs) The wood has been mildly cleaned to remove tiny white paint splatter/droplets and waxed to protect it. No major repairs! The handle is original to the piece, but the period fittings that attatch it are from another old piece(one of the originals was missing) and are quite similar to the originals. The celluloid badge is just legible under lighting. I used ground pencil carbon and a fingertip to wipe accross the embossing to be able to read and identify the writing. All have some corrosion. The dental bag these came from is listed in my other listings with more forceps, and several individual forceps are offered individually.
