RARE Cameron Porcelain Dental Instrument Tool Kit Medical Set in Case You are bidding on a very rare porcelain dentist tool kit by Cameron's Surgical Specialty Co. The black leather case meaures 14" x 12 1/2" x 3 1/4" The metal snaps close great but the leather handle is broken off. It is marked on the upper left outside top F.P. Cattermole. D.D.S. I did a google search for this name and found it in a Dental Journal published by the Dental Society of the University of Michigan from 1899! The inside is lined with beautiful purple velvet. Black bakelite tabs hold the tools down. One of these tabs is broken off that holds down the black vitalitester. This looks to be a complete set. This set includes: Right angle lamp 11 1/2" long Gingival electrode lamp 4 3/4" long Coronal electrode lamp 4 3/4" long Right angle ... morelamp 4 3/4" long Antralamp 4 3/4" long 2 dental lamps both measuring 4 3/4" long 1" FF 10X magnifier Boilo mirror# 4 Argus model C Boilo mirror#5 Argus Model C unmarked#1 mirror Black Vitalitester 9" long with black tube. Black rubver tube is hard and not pliable any more. All lights are marked Cameron's and patent numbers ranging from 1912 to 1922 I will do my very best to take many pictures of these items. On August 1. 1915"American Surgical Specialty Company" was opened for business at 6 East Lake Street, in Chicago. Based on dates imprinted upon some of the early Cameron surgical lamps, it appears that the patent was approved(or perhaps expanded upon or officially transferred to Will) on December 12, 1916. The concept that made the lamps work was"transillumination" by white ray light. In short, the process enabled physicians to distinguish by shadows the difference between congested and healthy tissue, something radiology was unable to do. Wow! Found this extensive dental kit in the attic. I don't usually sell antiques. But this was a must. This set is complete with numerous tools made by Clauss, Payne, Sklar and more. There is a pelican, head mirror with headband, syringe with attachments, and eye glasses with magnifiers. There are numerous tools and the antique box. All of the tools are in excellent condition. The headband needs to be oiled, but there are no rips or tears. Also, this kit features some amazing eye glasses with the trademark magnifying attachment. This is so cool! Turn of the century, attempt at a lighted dental exam kit with some sort of electrical/battery thing to supply power to the apparent lights. To me, I would guess that this was more from the 1940's or perhaps a bit earlier. I honestly do not know and have no clue about the apparent"battery container" or what powered this gizmo. 9 1/2 by 9 1/4 by 5 1/2" jointed wooden box. I would guess c 1910. The bottom drawer is empty, top compartment missing one bottle. The glass slab for mixind product has a large chip at one corner as shown. There are lots of old school dental items that we obtained and will be listing in separate auctions. Keep checking back to see what else we have uncovered! In this auction. We have an unusual piece, an antique dovetailed wood box that was built to contain jars of Dr. Trey's Synthetic Porcelain Caulk. This box holds at the moment, 14 small apothecary jars, most with glass stoppers, but 3 have cork. Most of the jars measure approx. 2 ⅜" tall, 1 ⅛" in diameter. Four of them are different sizes, slightly smaller. Two of those are stopped with cork and labeled" Ames' Berlylite; A Synthetic Feldspar; Modified by Rare Earths; Small Size. The jars are also labeled with colors, such as white, yellow and gray, allowing the dentist to mix his materials to match the patient's tooth color, creating a natural appearing restoration. The box measures approx. 9 ¼" wide. 5 ½" tall and 9 ¼" deep. Inside, there are spaces for 18 different jars, 3 drill bits and space for a glass mixing slab, which is no longer with the kit. So it seems that this device was used to test the vitality of teeth. I don't think that's a real thing but I admit that I'm no expert in such things! And to be sure. We are selling this as a collectable and not as a device that should ever be used on a patient or oneself. We don't even know if it works- it's just for the collector. Included in the box are some dental tools. Mirrors and a neat magnifying glass, a nice little box of caulk root canal points and an unopened package of Cresilver dental amalgam- it says it's 74.5 to 75.5% pure silver. Interesting. The set comes with what's shown in the photos. The outer dimensions of the box are 12" x 9" x 3" and although it shows expected evidence of age and wear. It remains fully intact and in good condition. Antique Walnut Portable Dental Kit- 1800's
Welcome to our personal estate sale. This is an amazing piece of history I found in Grandpa's workshop after he died. He kept small tools in it. I wished I had seen it while he was alive to ask him about its history. As a carpenters kid. I love its construction. Each side is made from a solid piece of walnut. You can really see it on the back, where a very wavy grain piece was used. I can just imagine an itinerant dentist roaming the old west with this box. It has the scars to show it hard use, all adding to its charm. It really belongs in a museum. The top 2 trays, the ones the patient likely saw, are beautiful in construction and finish. It retains the original key and the lock works perfectly. All hardware is original. I've never seen another like it. I put the dental tools in to show how it would have looked originally- you can ... morehave them if you wish. Only one is as old as the box. It measures 14" wide. This is a KELLER'S MASTODON TREATMENT CEMENT KIT. Which also Contains Dr Trey's Dental Products. Keller's was Manufactured by The AKME Dental Mfg. Co. of Chicago. ILL.a nd Dr.Trey's was M anufactured by The L.D. Caulk Co. who were manufacturing agents for N. S. America and Japan. First is this AWESOME Box which Measures 4& 3/4 inches long by 1& 5/8 inches wide and stands 3& 3/4 inches high. It is covered on all 5 exposed sides with advertising for the product inside. An Excellent material for Crown and Bridgework when mixed to a sticky medium stiffness" On the back of the box are the mixing instructions and a few interesting comments. It states"sold by avoirdupois weight" So. I had to look it up" Avoirdupois is a system of measuring weight based on the fact that sixteen ounces are in a pound. The metric system is based on grams.
