It makes my mouth hurt just to look at this thing. This was used long ago to pull teeth. It is made of steel as a magnet will stick to it. It is about 4 1/2" long. It looks like it has the letters CSC stamped over each other on it. I believe the name of the Co. is Central Surgical Co. It also had Germany stamped on the inside of the handle. see picture) It is pretty shiny yet and looks like it could come even brigther with some polishing. RARE Vintage KERN Surgical / Dentistry Tool Antique Extraction Dental Surgery
Up for auction today is what I think is a vintage surgical/ Dentistry tool. It is marked KERN-USA-PAT-PEND on the outside of each handle. The pliers looking portion measures 7” long and the hook portion measures 11” long. The patent pending shows it age. I am not sure exactly what this was used for but KERN made tools for dentistry and surgery. I did not clean these and left the original patina( and probably DNA) on the tool. The handles have a nice knurling and would look great polished. The hook portion has the name RALPH stamped on it. Please see photos to determine condition. 19th century Dental Extraction Forceps, M Wocher And Son
Up for sale is a pair of dental forceps. Both are stamped M Wocher and Son. From reading they were a minor surgical supplier during the Civil War and manufactured from 1840-1900. Both forceps have some pitting and rust but are straight. Antique vintage dental tools extraction teeth pull scrape syringe
From a local estate of a second generation dentist who retired in 1977. I think these would have been his fathers dentistry tools seeing that there is a tool in this lot with a patent date of 1894. They are terrifying and vicious looking. They are in relatively good shape. They all open and close. Not all rusted shut. These were stashed away in a tin box in his large dentist tool box in the basement of his home. Please look at all the clear pictures. Very interesting tool! I was told was for extracting teeth. However. I found one listed as such, and one calling it a surgery tool. I am sure if you collect these items you will know for sure and perhaps shoot me a quick note: It is stamped"Sklar" and"Germany"It measures 5 1/4 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide at handle when closed. I have many advertisements from trade publications and the company's own 1908 catalogue(which almost has the thickness of a copy of War and Peace. that place this tool firmly within the stated timeframe. A nice pair of forceps from EW Allendorph. The most recent mention of this manufacturer I could find is from 1905 and mentions them having failed in business.These are early handle versions indicative of 19th century form. Although the curved handle(bowed handle w/thumb loop) can be found through the early 20th century. This type with the arched handle seems to have been phased out after the turn of the last ventury. Its hard to date these, but this seems to be a fair assessment based on comparables. Has some corrosion as seen in pictures, but is in nice overall condition. An unusual pair of turn of the century forceps with cutting attachment on one of the extentions. Is marked with a patent of 1894 and 1896. There were many patent races in the medical equipment industry in the years leading up to the new century"1900" as manufactureres wanted to enter the 20th century with their best technological offerings. Here is an example of that. Some corrosion but overall nice condition.
