James Cartland & Son Brass Door Hardware Victorian Letter Slot & Door Knocker
Nice Victorian Brass Hardware. Both have the JCS Cypher and the knocker also has what looks like an R monogram that I have been unable to identify. The letter slot measures 9" x 3" and the width measure between center of screw holes is 7 1/2" The door knocker is 8" long and top plate width is 3 1/2" with center to center screw hole width of 1 13/16" Condition: Original Patina. On Letter plate. One spring hinge with holding pin is missing and although easily remedied, functions with the one that is there. The knocker sits slightly askew but looking closely at it, appears that that can be easily remedied. There is a minor scuff on tip of nose. There are several photos so please scroll.

There are 4 doors. 2 have door jambs(We DO have other door jambs that will work with doors)and 2 without. Each of the doors has its original heavy brass ornate door knobs& plates& lock sets(sorry no key) all the brass is in need of polishing to bring out the serious beauty that hidden here, also all the hinges are present as well. The doors are in good condition. Some will need some work if you desire restored. These solid walnut. Double entry doors are a matched pair with bookmatched Tiger walnut inset panels. Please study the pictures and note the unusual grain.These are one of a kind and we have a pair! These were left over from a container shipment from the original interior from the"Kings Head Pub" in Manchester, England. Circa 1840's. The fronts have been restored and the back side still has the original finish. They measure 36"x 89"x 2" each. This a beautiful old oak freezer door from a college in the Bryn Mawr. PA area. The 2 hardwood blocks pictured are included for use as a table also. The last owner used it as a table the last 30 years or so. This is the real deal and it must weigh 100 lbs. plus. It takes 2 strong people to move it. The latch is really neat also. The wood is awesome and old. I do not know the exact age but it has to be close to 100 years old. These were removed in the 60's or 70's by orders from the department of health and food inspection in favor of all metal doors. Size is 73 1/2 by 31 1/2 and 4 3/4 thick and it is HEAVY! Hi. My name is Chuck back in 2006 my family and I where living in a 6,000 sq foot Victorian home, that was built by a banker in around 1864 for approximately 4 years. One day my wife was home alone when the door in our living room to the other side of the house started opening up as the door faced her she saw an old man looking back at her in the door. When I got home she told me. Like I said we lived there 4 years and this just appeared in the grains of the wood not just a little but very evident.We did not feel afraid or threatened in any way just amazed by the face of a wise old man like father time his eyes follow you where ever you go. The door ended up on channel 9 news at the Sherwood inn in Skaneatles NY where people were amazed at the sight especially when they got close enough to see that it was imbedded in the grains of the wood ... moreit was fun to watch there expressions on their faces most would throw there hands over their faces and say oh my god I thought it was a drawing. All doors have a solid pine cores covered with 1/8" birch veneers. They all have a traditional, Arts& Crafts style, single panel design with wide, stepped molding contouring the inner edges of their panels. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Hardware: The doors are not equipped with any hardware. However. W e have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store. And tons more in our physical store. If you would like any of the hardware ... moreholes patched with a solid block of wood-email us for a quote. Condition: see photos) Door#2: On the exterior side. There are 3 dents along one of the strips of vertical molding, and there are a few, shallow cracks stemming from the top of the panel, directly below the top strip of molding. On the interior side. There is a deep, horizontal scratch in the upper half of the lock stile. The height was unevenly cut by 1/4" most likely to compensate for a settling foundation or a warped floor. And had slidebolts(flushbolts) installed at the top and bottom of it's lock stile, on the exterior side. Huge reclaimed antique plank entry door with impressive cast bronze strap hinges and hardware. Dating from the 1920s. This heavy pine door was salvaged from a home in Indianapolis, IN, and features vertical wood planks. The door is adorned with three gigantic, decorative cast bronze hinges, with pierced scrollwork and pyramid stud buttons. Pair of Victorian 1870's Antique Arched Church Doors, 11' 4" Tall, Old Paint
Here is a great pair of old Arched Church Doors. They are 11 feet 4 inches tall, they fit a 60" opening, doors are actually 59 3/4 across both of them. They are in extremely good condition, for their age, which I would put Pre 1870, by the square nails and the hinges. These doors are not warped, fit together very nice, it has 3 hinges on one door that are still good, their are 2 on the other door that are just half and 1 is broken. Yes it takes 6 hinges 4 1/2" tall, very ornate and Victorian. The old paint is wonderful, Blue and green on the outside and an old red on the inside, both sides show extremely well, because the paint is very old and nice. These have been stored for probably 50 years, There is a splinter missing on one door, and an very old repair and a rough place at the bottom, the repair is under the old paint and these ... moreare hardly noticeable. I took 12 pics, showing everything including the little imperfections. I hate to say imperfections, I believe these are the best doors I've personally ever seen. They are gorgeous, They are wonderfully designed and made, and to find them in this great condition, is unheard of. This is a pickup only, or I will work with your shipper, or may deliver. Each door measures 37" X 92" Very strong door handles and lock, no key, however all hardware is included. A light sanding or cleaning will bring out the original color and show the carvings well.
