The door is made of solid, old pine and is painted white one side and finished on the other. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. The door has 5. Raised, ... morehorizontal panels with lovely, stepped molding contouring the inner edges of each panel. Quirks& Considerations: The previous owner added hinges and a rim lock. And used the door as a standard, swinging door for one of the apartments in his building.
