Early Original 1900's Pair of Stained Glass Oak Cabinet Doors
Up for auction is an original matching set of stained& beveled glass cabinet doors taken from a Milwaukee bungalow that was built in 1918. There are no cracks or damage of any kind. One piece of the glass has a minor imperfection. It is not a crack or a scratch but it is a line that is a little over an inch. I tried to photograph it but it would not show up in the pictures. I am just trying to be upfront. It is surrounded in beautiful oak that has a great patina. One door measures 20& 3/4 inches tall. 14& 11/16 inches wide. These huge teak château doors dating to around 1850c were recently removed from the French Embassy in Jakarta when new security doors were added. The front boasts a grand 19th Century appearance which alone is impressive enough. However when you turn to see the back of the doors you find and incredible pair of life size paintings of what is believed to be a King and Queen. The detail is just remarkable. And apparently painted in real gold although this has not been tested. Large antique doors without the interesting background and without the stunning artwork alone are rather sort after. You are looking at a pair of antique pine leaded glass cabinet doors. They are not painted. They have their original finish on them. They are in good condition. There are a few minor scratches in the finish as you can see in the pics, but nothing major at all. The glass is sturdy and there are no breaks. There are 31 pieces of flat glass in each door. This pair includes round knobs(not sure if brass or steel) It also includes hinges. The pair measures 39 3/8" wide by 40" one is 39 5/8" tall, someone cut it down a hair)tall by 3/4" thick, together. You are looking at a very hard to find set of 4 leaded glass cabinet doors and side panels. This would make a complete cabinet or if you don't want to use the panels as sides. Cut them down and use them as windows or doors. They are not painted, they have their original finish on them. They are all oak. They are in good condition, with just some minor scratches in the finish, not the wood. The glass is sturdy and there are no breaks. Very nice design. ONLY ONE DOOR-the door on the left. With hardware removed(although it will be included) Solid wood door with original glass removed from my 1904 Victorian home. Again, this buy-it-now is for ONE door. Most of the woodwork in my house, including the floors, is pine, so I'm assuming these doors are pine. Beautiful scalloped carving surrounding the glass. One door has a significant chip on the top inside corner, shown in one photograph. Otherwise, minor nicks and scratches, overall in good shape. I believe if you stripped these, patched and finished, they will look beautiful. And the original wavy glass is gorgeous. The doors are not perfectly square, so I will give the range of measurements. I removed the lockset from one door to distinguish the two, but mortise lock, plate, knobs, and iron hinges ARE INCLUDED! All are original to the doors ... moreexcept the deadbolts. Matching pair of ornate. Architectural, salvaged panels, just dying for a little imagination. Solid, quarter sawn oak construction. Square nails mean most likely circa 1865-1885. Starting from the bottom, you have bevelled baseboard trim. Then is a recessed bevelled panel with fluted side columns. Near the top are small carved columns flanking a spoon carved Eastlake panel. Additional Eastlake flowers at top corners with a bevelled arch in between. Some wear/dings but no breaks, missing pieces or repairs. Slight finish imperfections but excellent overall condition. This is a nice pair carved and paint decorated cabinet doors with a very nice Art Nouveau style panel. They each measure 6 1/4" wide x 18 1/2" high. The edges are cut at an angle and are a little rough. It may be best to cut the edges down or just remove the panel from the frame to re-purpose them. It is hard to tell from the pictures but the center of the carving is curved which adds a nice detail to the panel itself. Each door has a solid pine core covered with 1/4" thick red oak veneers. Please don't think"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern furniture to disguise the inferior materials underneath; these veneers are very thick and help strengthen and stabilize the door. As well as protect it against warping. Solid oak doors would've warped a long time ago. The doors have 6 panels on each side: 2 square on top. 2 long, rectangular in the middle, and 2 square on bottom. On the front side, the panels have beautifully- carved, Gothic quadrafoils and ogee arches. On the back side, the panels are raised. Hardware: Besides the ... moremail door and cover. I have a bag of mounting hardware that came with them. I am uncertain if every piece is there. I believe it is a complete original set of installation hardware. Photo 10. Both doors do have the top and bottom swing pegs in place. Photo 11. Both doors measure the same. Down the middle of the door. From the top of the crest to the bottom measures 43 inches. On the hinge/mounting side from top to bottom is 40 1/2 inches. The inside where the doors would meet measures from top to bottom 38 inches. This is a fabulous pair of antique swinging saloon doors from the old west. They came from the Old West Museum in Harrisburg. PA. The doors are in perfect working order and they have a wonderful old patina. Heavy duty made to last, imagine a gun slinging gambler bursting through these doors looking for trouble, or a game of Pharo. They just don't make them like this anymore. The doors are from the late 1800's to early 1900's and have an aged red finish. They are 53 1/2" wide x 48" high with a 1/2" gap between them. Each door is 24" wide x 42" high. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Hardware: The doors are currently not equipped with any hardware. However.
