Both doors have a beautiful arrangement of 10, true-divided, beveled glass lites. The doors were previously used as a"swinging doors. which meant that they had spring-loaded, pivot hinges installed in their bottom corners, and swung both forward and backward like a saloon style door. The doors no longer have their pivot hinges or push ... moreplates. However, just because they were used as a swinging doors, doesn't mean that you have to. We could cut off the rounded sides and trim the doors to 26"W, or we could cut and then add to the sides to widen to 28" or wider. We could also cut the height of the door to just above of the area where the hinge was installed(which would make each door 82 1/2" Or if you need the height or need it taller, we could plug the mortised area and even add to it. Here is a door that came out of a house that was built in the late 1800's. It was an interior door that led to a 3-season porch room. Unfortunately, one of the panes is missing, but the other is the original wavy glass of the era. The area that the pane mounts into is in decent shape, and most of the old glazing and glazing points have been removed. There are a few coats of paint on the door, as well as some chunks/scrapes/nailholes here and there(see pics) All issues are repairable, especially if the door will be painted. They need a bit of work before they could become a true pair. One door has a lip on the edge of its lock stile and the other doesn't. The hinge stile is wider than the lock stile on the door without the lip. The extra wide stile would make it pretty easy to cut into to create a groove for the lip of the other door to fit into, and make the doors a true pair. Antique French partition doors. Large - 15 pane daisy glass.
This is a pair of French doors as you see. They are the type that one opens and closes freely while the other has a bolt at the top and bottom that you trigger to swing the other. They are large ones and were used to separate rooms. These have been stored for about 40+ years in an attic- so could use a paint job obviously but the wood is in very good condition.
