The door has a unique arrangement of 12 glass lites. 3 of the 4 rows of lites have textured glass with 1 row(3 glass lites) having just plain glass. Penn Antique Restoration. 31.5"x80"x1.75" Antique French Swinging Door w/15 True-Divided Lites. Fantastic. Antique. Swinging door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door is made of solid, Douglas Fir or pine, and is painted on both sides. It has a lovely arrangement of 15, true-divided, glass lites. The door was previously used as a"swinging door. which means that it had a spring-loaded, pivot hinge installed in it's bottom corner, and swung both forward and backward like a saloon style door. The door no longer has it's pivot hinge or push plates. However, just because it was used as a swinging door, doesn't mean that you have to. We could cut off the rounded sides and trim the door to 30"W, or we could cut and then add to the sides to widen it to 32" or wider. We could also cut the ... moreheight of the door to just above of the area where the hinge was installed(which would make the door 78 5/8" Or if you need the height or need it taller, we could plug the mortised area and even add to it. Look at the last photos of another door that we modified as an example. Condition: A thin piece of wood broke off of one of the corners. Just above the pivot hinge mortise(see photo) The break is only on one side of the door and could easily be patched with solid wood. We could patch the break as well as make any other repairs that you see fit-email us for a quote. The door is strong and sturdy and only has minor cosmetic blemishes that you would expect to find on a 100+ year old door. Most of the scrapes. VINTAGE SOLID WOOD INTERIOR FRENCH DOORS - lot of 4 - from 1920's
These four French doors are from my colonial house in Spring Glen In Hamden. CT built in 1928. Original doors from when the house was built. They have been stored in my basement for 25 years. Three of the doors are 30" wide by 80" long. They are almost 2" thick. The 4th door was cut at one time or another. The fourth door measures approximately 80" x 30" and is about 1 1/2" thick. I am unsure of the type of wood. From looking at others I think they are maple because that was the wood used in that time period but, again, I am not 100% sure. Local pick-up is in Cheshire, CT. They need a bit of work before they could become a true pair. One door has a lip on the edge of its lock stile and the other doesn't. The hinge stile is wider than the lock stile on the door without the lip. The extra wide stile would make it pretty easy to cut into to create a groove for the lip of the other door to fit into, and make the doors a true pair. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This shutter was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time.
