Walnut with an excellent deep finish, the deep moldings and masterful carved details are beautiful. The interior is oak with shelves adjustable on wooden supports. Drawers inside have hand cut dovetail joints and are removable. Closet poles could be installed if desired on this elegant antique furniture from Europe. Mirrors have a little"smoke" to show their age. Brass door locks still work. This historic wardrobe or closet can be disassembled for moving. We painted over it and it's very hard to see unless you are very tall! lol. Also, the drawers are a little loose and do not line up exactly in the front areas. We worked on it with carpenter so it's pretty good but not perfect! Artistic hand detailing is beautiful. The old finish is very well preserved. There are minor mars at the edges various irregularities from age and a long mar on the lower left side. See photos. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its antique patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The center door lock works. Side door keys are handles only, those locks do not work. This French walnut armoire or wardrobe from around 1900 has a magnificent hand carved shell motif crest. The original warm brown finish is extremely well preserved on this superior quality furniture from France. Waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Diamond matched panels and curved sides are beautiful. The key is a handle only. The lock on the door does not work. Lift off hinges are original. The interior is oak and birdseye or curly maple, the shelf adjusts on wooden supports and interior depth is 16 1/2.
