Mid Century Modern Tulip Dining Table & Swivel Chairs Burke Similar to Saarinen
Vintage Burke Tulip table and 4 swivel chairs. This is a very unique set. The original table is a nice rosewood laminate and is in overall very nice condition. There are some minor nicks around the edges. The tulip base I believe is aluminum and has a weighted center, the table top is removable as pictured. The top measures 48" in diameter and is 29" high. The 4 swivel chairs are a unique blend of colors with a naugahyde/vinyl mustard yellow back and armrests along with a vinyl removable seat cushion that is nice because you can wipe them clean when needed, the color on them is an aqua. The swivel bases are self centering and all function. Even the original foot glides are unique as they swivel to contour to an uneven floor. Burke really did a nice job on this set. The set is not perfect, the yellow seat backs have some minor separation ... morewhere the threads have let go in some of the seams, we have owned this set for quite some time and the seams have never split any further, there is minor discoloration due to age in the metals, I just do not want any confusion as to this being in very good vintage condition. Fabric on chairs is in great shape with no stains or damage that I can detect. Except for one chair(see pictures) Chairs swivel nicely. All 4 chairs have floor protector caps over the feet. Feet on chairs and table are adjustable. Overall I would say this set is in very nice shape for the age. Great retro color.I have yet to find another set with chairs this color. The lady who owned this left things untouched after her young husband had a sudden heart-attack. Even the house he had been building for her was left unfinished upstairs. So this set is in near perfect condition. In one photo you will see a small linear impression on a vinyl seat. I had left the set in storage and had placed the extra chair seat sitting on edge upon it. This may improve on its own- or not. However. The original owners had bought an extra seat. You will see the original order sheet in one of the photos. So you can replace if you wish! Amazing vintage brady bunch style dining room set. Very sturdy. table and chairs have iron bases. The four chairs swivel full 360 degrees. Original yellow vinyl- could be used as is- have some tears and needs to be cleaned. Would be amazing in the right hands for reupholster project. Could resell for much more. Table measures 47 inches across.
