very old antique ceramic chicken salt or pepper shaker. Pretty good condition for its anticipated age and story. This cute little shaker was found outside under an inch of soil in Northern Wisconsin. I just saw a little bit of white near the base of a tree. started unearthing it. And there it was! Some red and black paint still exists on this fat little white chicken. It is not cracked, but there are small chips here and there.they seem to actually add to its patina as none are large enough to take away from it. the bottom plug is missing, probably was cork. White glaze over pretty intricate ceramic showing tail feathers, eyes, and each wing feather. Gotta love it! The front two teeth are the salt and pepper shakers. The front of the arch is marked. My Two Front Teeth, New Mexico" The side of the base has a label that says, Souvenir of Santa Rosa, N.M. I might be wrong on the town's name, as it is a little worn. There is no breakage or damage that I can see. There are several glaze cracks or craze marks from age. These are not defects and attest to the age of the item. The bottom of the salt and pepper shaker teeth have some glue type residue. I assume the two teeth were once glued in place so they wouldn't fall out. It can be cleaned but I will let the new owner do it. One of the teeth has its cork stopper. The other does not. Lot of assorted small salt and pepper shakers. There are 3 singles which are Asian theme ceramic or porcelin 2.25"3" tall. 2 of these have small chips out of them last photo. One other single is glass and metal it looks like a ships lantern 2.75" tall. There is one set of blue glass 2" tall, I think these are the oldest they are in very good condition. Last are 2 small metal sets 1.5" tall which need polishing and I can't get the tops off. I inherited these and don't know much else other than they have been boxed up for 40+ years. Here is a Vintage Pair of Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers from Japan. They are Miniuature. Standing about 1 1/2 inches tall. The Shakers appear to be Hand Painted and have what appears to be Gold leaf on the tops and sides. They have what I think are Hand Painted Flower Designs on 2 of the 4 sides. The other 2 sides have a Gold Leaf Design. The Tops have Stars in Gold. They both have cork stoppers on the bottom and they look like the originals. The Word Japan is Hand Painted in Red on the Bottoms of both. This Dates them to the 50's or earlier,after that everything was marked Made in Japan not just Japan. I have not been able to identify the maker or the exact age but I think they may be from the 1920's or 30's as a lot of these were made then. They are Really Cute and Very Collectible! Early ~ Mid-Century Vintage hand painted standing FAWN BAMBI DEER Salt& Pepper Shaker Set. Overall size is 3.5" tall x 2.25" long x 1.5" wide. Both are posed as standing with heads slightly turned. Painted by hand with large eyes with a touch of blue and long lashes; brown tones on the head and body, green tones in blades of grass around the leg area. Pink inside the ears. Spots on the backs are slightly raised bumps. One shaker has two holes and the other three. The shaker with three holes has a fleabite at one of the holes. Although unbranded, Japan is handwritten on the bottom. Still have cork stoppers that fit nicely and are in fine condition. No cracks or nicks, no craze, and no discoloration. These shakers are well weighted and steady. Combined weight prior to packaging is 4.2 oz.

This is a grouping of 3 figurines. One is a salt& pepper shaker in the form of two entwined roosters. And the other is a set of two figurines of fancy ladies with"food" for heads(fish and onion) The ladies measure 5 1/4 each in height and the Salt& Pepper Shaker is 4 1/2 inches high. The seem to be very old and somewhat primitive. There is some age related paint wear and a bit of crazing on the onion head. The bottom of the roosters show some loss of glaze but otherwise they are in good vintage condition. No cracks or chips. Amazing find! Two Bohemian ceramic salt cellars and a pair of salt and pepper shakers gilded in gold. These were made by Pfeiffer and Lowenstein in Schlackenwerth(now Ostrov) Czechoslovakia between the years 1918 and 1941. The company stopped production and shut it's doors forever in 1949. They still have the original cork stoppers. They are in good condition for their age but do show signs of use with some scratches and wear to the gold gilding. This set is in good condition the tray that comes with it is about nine and a half inches long. The salt and pepper shakers are about two and a half inches tall so is the mustard pot. The salt and pepper shakers have their corks they were made in Japan. There is one little chip you can barely see it. Its in the third picture.
