Circa 1930. The wardrobe features a classically styled cloud shaped cornice and triple vertical reeded front corners. The two doors are highly figured with a stunning walnut veneer. The right hand door is opened using a sprung push button, flanked by the original deep red bakelite handles. There is also a working lock and key to the door. The left hand door features two latches, which keep the door closed whilst the right hand door is open. Inside the wardrobe are four-quarter circle internal shelves to the right. To the left, is a metal telescopic extending hanging rail, which extends outwards so that you can easily hang your clothes on the rail. On the inside of the right door is a metal hanging rail. Below the drawers, there is a protruding moulded section. Below are two large hand dovetailed oak lined drawers, which also feature the original bakelite handles. French 1900 Antique Carved Walnut Armoire. Shaped Beveled Mirror Doors. Item# B-19779. All original. This French walnut armoire or wardrobe from around 1900 has a magnificent hand carved shell motif crest. The original warm brown finish is extremely well preserved on this superior quality furniture from France. Waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Diamond matched panels and curved sides are beautiful. The key is a handle only. The lock on the door does not work. Lift off hinges are original. The interior is oak and birdseye or curly maple, the shelf adjusts on wooden supports and interior depth is 16 1/2.
