Antique Stork Heron Cast iron metal Finial?? Great Details in bird and painting
I am not sure if this is a finial or not but that is all I can deduct it must be- it is a bird/ stork/ heron with a screw bottom and made of cast iron I think it stands 3" tall and at its widest point is 2 3/4" the paint has some minor wear to it but over all it is very nice and great details.

c1879 CAST IRON finial HARTFORD CT CAPITAL building 93"
HUGE cast iron Finial from the Connecticut State Capitol building. A very rare piece of history- removed from the Connecticut state capitol in the late 1970's early 1980's during a major renovation of the 1879 gothic victorian grand building constructed in Bushnell Park(formerly Trinity college property) Prior to the construction of this building- Connecticut had two state capitals: one in New Haven. One in Hartford- after centuries of the state government alternating it's location yearly- a legislative act was passed locating the seat of state government in Hartford(of course the citizens of Hartford sweetened the pot with a $500,000 gift towards the construction of a new building! A site was chosen and paid for by the state- 6 years of construction overruns. And finally in 1879 a brand new $3.2 million dollar building was opened- ... morethe building was one of the top ten architectural wonders of it's period. A century of wear and tear caught up with the building in the 1970's and luckily the leaders of the time thought better than to tear it down- instead they spent close to $20 million to refurbish the building. This cresting- original to the building was made by Taylor& Fenn in East Windsor. CT- and recast in the early 1980's(by the same company! for the replacement iron was put back on the roof! provenance can be provided in a book commissioned by the Old State House association! These finials were rebuilt as the fragile nature of the iron made them easy to break or crack. A professional welder rebulit three pieces. The listing shows all three pieces- your bid is for ONE(1) Winning bidder has choice on which one. The taller two measure 93" tall and are 20" wide across the top and 16" wide at the bottom. The shorter piece is 82" tall and 20" wide across the top. These would make spectacular garden pieces or if you had a barn or period building these could be re-used. They are approximately 150# each. A very rare piece of history- removed from the Connecticut state capitol in the late 1970's early 1980's during a major renovation of the 1879 gothic victorian grand building constructed in Bushnell Park(formerly Trinity college property) Prior to the construction of this building- Connecticut had two state capitals: one in New Haven. One in Hartford- after centuries of the state government alternating it's location yearly- a legislative act was passed locating the seat of state government in Hartford(of course the citizens of Hartford sweetened the pot with a $500,000 gift towards the construction of a new building! A site was chosen and paid for by the state- 6 years of construction overruns. And finally in 1879 a brand new $3.2 million dollar building was opened- ... morethe building was one of the top ten architectural wonders of it's period. GORGEOUS Antique Street Light Ornate Finial Nouveau Green Paint Cast Iron
This is an antique cast iron lid or top. Probably meant for a large outside lantern or a vintage street light. It measures 6.75” in diameter and is 7” from the top of the finial to the bottom lip of the cover. The rod is 20” long and has a threaded end as I show. With a hex head bolt on the other end. There is also a hex head bolt on the underside of the finial and I am guessing once it is removed, the threaded rod inserts into this area. The green rod has raised lines marked off at 1” intervals along the length. This piece would be fabulous on its own simply as a tabletop decorative element, repurposed as a large paperweight, or used as a one of a kind cache pot lid. It has the original old green paint with some rust showing through and overall wear, and is designed with gorgeous art deco/ art nouveau lines and all sorts of raised scrollwork ... moredesigns on the top. OLD VINTAGE CAST IRON FENCE POST FINIAL ACORN ~ PINEAPPLE SHAPE For your consideration. I am offering this cool, old vintage cast iron fence post finial. This is in the shape of what looks to be an acorn. At first glance I thought it was a pineapple shape, but the bottom looks as if it is the cap on an acorn. It stands approximately 8" tall and the opening on the bottom is approximately 2- 3/8" by 3- 1/8" This is a heavy old piece and most likely should be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a flat rate box. This looks as if it was painted gray at one time. This has been in my collection for many years but now it is time to downsize. There is tremendous detail throughout this piece from the feathers and talons.
