Up for your consideration is this outstanding 1930's oyster veneered armoire. It comes from a wealthy Conn estate and is looking for a new home for someone to enjoy it. It is a large piece that comes in 3 sections. 2 sides that sit on a base. There is a full length mirror on the inside and a shelf with a pole for hanging things. The veneers are in excellent condition and the side graining of the wood is wonderful Overall it is in very good condition with slight surface scratches due to its age. There are 2 handles with a little button that releases the lock. There is a keyhole but I do not have the key and there is hardware for a second pole to hang but I do not have that either. This lovely extra large antique mahogany armoire or wardrobe with gorgeous wood grains and veneers. Manufactured during the early 1900's in England or Scotland was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh Scotland. It offers beautiful organized storage for even the largest wardrobe. This early twentieth century wardrobe offers a large double hanging closet with a hanging bar with multiple sliding cloak hooks on the bar as well as cloak hooks around the inside of the closet. This open closet space of course could easily be fitted with any of the the modular storage systems available in most major department stores if that better served the needs of the new owner. The opposing single closet is fitted with three removable shelves which makes four large functional cubbies. The decorative doors on this wardrobe include beautiful veneer ... morepanels on the two outside closet doors and a large arch top beveled mirror on the center closet door. The design of the piece includes decorative metal hardware as shown and it appears to be both original and intact. This wardrobe does have a currently working lock and a key. Though I never guarentee old locks. The real highlight is the gorgeous wood used to create this piece and craftmanship that went into making it into such functional storage space. This is a high quality piece with dovetailed drawers and sturdy construction. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the construction, design, condition and beauty of the piece, though pictures just don't do it justice. I notice the bonnet was not quite seated on top when I shot these photo's but it does fit tightly and helps hold the wardrobe together as per design. This wardrobe is designed to travel easily in four pieces- the bonnet, a single closet and the double closet and the dresser base with five drawers. There are 4 wood drawers. There is slight wood damage on the bottom one but it has matching varnish and barely noticeable. Inside the closet(note long ago there was a door, you could add one again easily or leave open like we have) is a metal sliding hanger rod that pulls out and pushes back in with ease for the child to choose their outfit ... moreand then push back in for storage ease. We noted at the bottom drawer on the top left of the drawer is some wood loss, as a small portion was chipped, please see the last picture it's not very noticeable but we want to point that out of course! The dresser/closet/vanity is sturdy and strong. Some time ago the handles were lost from the drawers. But we are lucky enough to have tons of antiques and we found a set of 4 matching antique edged decorative brass knobs that easily screw in. This is a large wardrobe that is from England and brought to the US by an American Soldier in the 1980's. It is a very nice piece with very few flaws. It has a mirrored front door with the original door and draw handles and key. It also has the original inside hanging bar and hooks. It has a wide over hanging top and one draw at the bottom. It comes apart in 3 pieces. The top molding piece, the center with the mirrored door and the bottom drawer piece. If you look at pictures#8,9 and#10 you can see one lower edge on the outside is missing a small area of the molding. Also these 3 pictures show where the door closes, there is a slight warping at the edge of the closer.This looks like an easy fix) It measures 79" tall X 48" wide X 17 1/2" deep. French 1900 Antique Carved Walnut Armoire. Shaped Beveled Mirror Doors. Item# B-19779. All original. This French walnut armoire or wardrobe from around 1900 has a magnificent hand carved shell motif crest. The original warm brown finish is extremely well preserved on this superior quality furniture from France. Waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Diamond matched panels and curved sides are beautiful. The key is a handle only. The lock on the door does not work. Lift off hinges are original. The interior is oak and birdseye or curly maple, the shelf adjusts on wooden supports and interior depth is 16 1/2.
