19th century knobkerrie/fighting stick.
this old stick was found in the loft of an old house. the deceased owner's uncle or great uncle was in the late victorian british forces. the stick is around 30" long and the off-centre head is approximately 3" diameter. there are some old splits in the head and shaft. These are minor and, i would think, to be expected in wood of this age. i do not know what tree this has been cut from. posted in rigid plastic tube. peruse the photos carefully as they form an integral part of the description. all rods are shipped in a rigid tube and other items securely boxed or packeted and insured against loss or damage if necessary. a signature will normally be required on delivery. the advertised condition of the item is my opinion based on experience. your opinion may differ but. This is a beautiful antique zulu knobkerrie in complete condition with fine tones and a lovely aged shaft with curves and hollows. It measures approx 27.1/4" long x 3" wide head of sloping form to the crown.the shaft is approx 1" thick tapering down to 3/4" at the end. i guess dates to the late 1880s/ early 1900s,it may have been waxed polished and the head has shrinkage cracks from age. sold as found. it is from house clearance. i will post anywhere paypal overseas please. payment to be by paypal overseas only. This is a beautiful aged coloured african knobkerrie. Its age is unknown but believed to date to the late 1880s period being a nice single colour, it has an offset head with a fantastic flowing shaft with all manner of bends along the length,no damage or repairs,it has some age related grain cracks on the head section and fantastic worked design of flat areas. the knobkerrie has a real nice feel some thing you cannot explain, A superb item for a collection and to display, I do not know too much about these items and any advice is most welcome. Hi. Here we have a really nice 2 toned hardwood Zulu knobkerrie dating from around 1880-1900. There is a hairline crack in the round end and a few little scuffs as is old but nothing major. Antique African Zulu Knobkerrie War Club Wooden Club Weapon
Hello. This is a large antique African knobkerrie club. It is in wonderful original condition and retains a fantastic natural patina. The craftsmanship that went into this weapon is impressive. There is no way that ball is going anywhere. The club has some serious age to it and was likely made in the 19 th century but it could be earlier. The ball has some natural age cracks which should not be considered flaws. These authentic blemishes only add to its charm and by no means make the club brittle. The ball portion is particularly dense and solid. This is a larger version of those typically found which makes it a special piece. It might be Zulu but I can't say for sure which tribe would have used it. I would hate to be on the receiving end of this. This would make an excellent addition to any antique weapons collection or just a unique ... moreconversation piece. Antique Wooden African Zulu War Club Knobkerrie Late 19th, Early 20th Century
Up for auction is an antique. Original, late 19th or early 20th century South African Zulu tribe Knobkerrie War Club. It is approx. 30 inches long, and the width of the head is just short of 4 inches. It weighs approx. 1 lb. 8oz. It appears to be a single carved piece with beautiful dark wood patina. There is one large crack in the head and one smaller one. These cracks are from age, although I was able to securely put a metal blade in one and a flint blade in the other. However, I will not"doctor up" and item in order to sell it. It is a formidable enough weapon as it is and would be the centerpiece of any collection. Thanks for looking! I think this is a fabulous item. It is an antique Zulu club or knobkerrie. I love the colour of the wood showing a rich patina build up over years of handling. This example has obviously had a life- it shows evidence of handling over the years. There is a fairly deep split and a couple of very light ones on the knop. The knop is slightly domed in shape. Overall this is a very fine example with evidence of use. Personally I think this makes it a very interesting and authentic item. The overall length is 29 inches(74 cm) The knop is 8.6 inches(22 cm) in circumference. The unpacked weight is approx 400 grams. International Signed for to Europe £16 Rest of World £18
