Antique African SlingShot Artifact – Carved to Resemble a Person - Baule Tribe
This sling shot is from Africa. From Western Africa. Possibly the Baule Tribe. Just imagine, some nomad used this slingshot to hunt their meal possibly several generations ago. This is crudely carved to look like a person or possibly a phallus(from the rear) A traditional boy's toy, the slingshot is used to keep animals out of the crops and for hunting birds and lizards. The figures reflect the skill and whimsy of each individual carver. This slingshot has a lovely patina that speaks of much use and handling. This are very old, and the elderly lady who had these in her collection had these for 50 years or more. This would make a fantastic display piece for the serious African Artifact Collector.
