Antique 20" Tall solid wood 1875 porch baluster railing spindles chippy paint
Hi this auction is for ONE antique spindle/baluster. I have 20 to list. And I will combine. Please wait for an invoice if buying more that one.I will ship the best and most economical way. Phots number 2, 3, 4, show some ideas of what to do with the baluaters. I cut them down(using all the pieces) and I attached them to old pieces of wood. The wood I got from old pallets. Listed is a beautiful. Circa 1875, antique wood porch baluster, or railing piece. These balusters have many uses. The pieces are all the same, but if you turn them on different sides, you can achieve a different look. The approx size of each is: 20" tall, 2 3/4 on one top or bottom, and 2 7/8" on the other side. In the photo I have placed one baulster ontop of a tea cup to get a taller look. Cypress adds $3.50 to the cost. This measures 7/8 inches thick x 15 1/2 inches wide x 15 1/2 inches tall. I can make as many of these as you might need for your project. 6 Pair of 59" Wood Columns/Porch Posts This pair of porch posts date from around the late 1800's. The posts are made from solid wood. Probably poplar. They were originally porch columns at one time that have been cut down. The posts are 59" high with 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square tops and 4 5/8" x 4 5/8" bottoms. The center section of the posts have a turned and shapely design. There is some old termite damage from the past. This occurred prior to the posts being stripped. And has about 3 old coats of paint: Barn red(earliest) then Blue, then BLACK(newest, but still an old coat of paint) Several places have the paint worn. Revealing earlier colors, and some places even revealing the Walnut wood. MORTISED construction. Arms, seat, etc. SEAT is 2-Board. With the one board approx 75% of the seats width. The BACK SLATS are THICK, solid wood, CURVED to accomodate backs, and mortised into the back board section of the seat. BOTTOM is BRACED by a long. LENGTHWISE STRETCHER, which in turn has 4 Perpendicular braces. WOOD is THICK. And entire bench is SOLID, THICK, and not at all a flimsy bench! SIZE: SEAT is 6" long. 19" deep. Vintage Wood Porch Columns From Charleston Battery
Vintage Solid Wood Porch Columns removed from a home on the Charleston. SC Battery 30+ years ago and kept in dry storage since. The particular home/ address WILL NOT be disclosed due to privacy concerns. These columns have some life left in them. They were removed due to wood rot at the bottom(see pics) and had a short stint in a decorative setting for photo shoots and as plant holders in my living room for a short time. My plan was to cut a little off the bottom and off the top and re-use them elsewhere, never did it, plans change. They've been sitting in storage and I don't have a use for them anymore. Maybe you do. Great for a restoration job. Add some sophistication. Elegance and grace to your home or next project, whether inside or outside. Email us after the auction to let us know which of the 2 benches you would like. These beautiful benches are handmade. Because none of the pieces are evenly cut. Each bench consists of 5 pieces of wood, supporting wood and L brackets- they were reinforced at some point with the L brackets and the supporting wood pieces. They are old but not Antique, from between the 1940's- 1950's. They were salvaged from Northeastern, NJ. They both have unique aged characteristics. Like the worn edges of the seat from numerous people sitting and rubbing their legs ... moreback and forth The original finish is still in tact. Has many character marks. Still usable but not for numerous people all at once, or use them for decorative purposes. I've seen people use these on their porch, take them as dining chairs for indoors and outdoors. Anywhere you use these would make the area stand out with a beautiful rustic primitive country look! Bench#1 condition: is slightly wobbly. If you're sitting you could rock very slightly back and forth, but its an easy fix. One of the feet is just a little bit higher than the other. You could sand it down or cut it a bit. The foot on one the end looks slightly eroded, but it doesn't affect the functionality of the bench. Bench#2 condition: this one is much more steadier than bench one. The legs angle slightly inward. Not by much, if you would look at carefully from the sides you could see the leg taper inwardly.its just a quirk, it does not affect the stability of the bench whatsoever. It has 3 big knots on the wood. One of the knots was poked out. also at the end of one of the feet is also slightly eroded. Lot of 8 vintage wood porch or stair spindles/ turnings w/ finials craft salvage This lot is unusual in that the spindles all have a matching finial on the top. Not sure what they were used for. They all were set in a square opening at one time. They have square tops and bottoms, with turned areas in between, and the finial is separate. Some of the finials are loose, could be glued on. They were once stained and varnished, show some wear from use and storage, not bad and could be used as is, or easily be stripped and refinished or painted. Not sure of the type of wood, maybe pine. Each is 28.5" long, including the finial, the square areas are 1 3/4" A fun set for upcycling and crafts. Please ask any questions before bidding to insure satisfaction with the items. Vintage DAIRY GOLD Milk Man Bottle Porch Box Advertising CHEYENNE WYOMING Antique LARAMIE Here is a very nice wood DAIRY GOLD Milk Bottle Box/Container from Dairy Gold which was out of Cheyenne and Laramie. Wyoming. The box is in good shape with the red and yellow paint still retaining much of their brightness. The top of the lid is metal with wood or possibly a particle board encased inside the metal. There is a bit of a bend to the lid that can be seen in the pictures. There are 2 hinges holding the lid to the box and one of the hinges is a bit loose, but doesn't cause any issues with opening and closing the lid. It looks like someone used masking tape to tape down the lid and there is some tape residue on the top of the lid and along the side of the box. There is minor paint loss and a bit of loss of wood on the base but the box remains ... morestructureally sound. The box measures 15" x 12" x 9.5" and weighs a hefty 8 lbs 12 oz. Overall I feel this is in very good condition for a wood milk bottle box of it's age and for what it was used for. Please sell of the pictures for the exact item up for sale.
