The finial has a 4 3/8" width on the outside(not including set screws) of each of the four pairs of flat sections and it is 8" high. Each of the 4 pairs of flat sections that are across from each other on the inside measure just under 3 7/8" apart and each of the eight flat sections inside are 1 5/8" long from inside corner to inside corner. I would think that these street light pole finial caps are meant to fit over a octagon street light pole that is 3 3/4" on the outside of each of the four pairs of flat sections. 4 Large Pair Ornate Cast Iron 12" Finials This large heavy ornate cast iron finials were used as a decorative end on metal rod spears that held up the canvas awning.that covered the front porch on many of the Arts& Crafts style homes they built in the 1920-40's. The top section of finial flares out to a 4" dia. The inside of the bottom is threaded with a standard 1" pipe threading with an outside measurement of 1 1/2" Also included are a pair of galvanized steel pipe nipples so that the finials will have a male or female connection as needed. For-sale here are vintage antique fence finials salvaged from a gate on an old house in the New Orleans area. They are roughly 6 inches tall with a half inch by half-inch square slot in the bottom for installation on iron Post. The original color was black but they now have spots of gold and or silver spray paint on them they also have slight corrosion or rust in certain parts but can be refinished if wanted or can just be displayed as they are for decoration. This listing features an old. Solid cast iron bird finial. I believe it was on a gate or fence since it has a threaded post on the end. It is painted white and there is the usual weather wear to the paint with some rusting as shown. I think it is wonderful. There is still some threading left on the post. The bird measures 3 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" wide. The threaded post is 1/4" long and 1/8" in diameter. It is heavy weighing over 1 pound unpacked. Too sweet! Set of 6 HEAVY CAST IRON Vtg/Antique ACORN FINIALS Fence Gate Post Tops Caps 5" Beautiful set of 6 of vintage/antique metal acorn finials. I am not sure of the age but they appear to be quite old. I believe that they are cast iron. They are thick and heavy. About 3 pounds each. The finials are painted black and stand approximately 5" tall. The bases measure 3" x 3 1/4" at the widest point with the interior dimensions being somewhat smaller. There are screw holes at either end of the shorter sides to secure the finials to the top of a post. It looks as if there are screw remnants in these holes and they would probably need to be drilled out if you plan on using them as intended. 3 of the bases have breaks(see pics) There is some wear and flaking to the black paint( you can see other paint colors in some areas) and also ... moresome rust here and there. For auction: 3 pieces of cast and wrought iron. The cast iron'star' or stylized cross is rather recent. The end that mounts has been filled with wax. I don't know why. The arrow is vintage and old. the end that fit into another piece is corroded but still functional and strong. The hook is a wrought iron piece that appears to be recently cleaned from ages of paint and corrosion free. Questions welcome.
