The finial has a 4 3/8" width on the outside(not including set screws) of each of the four pairs of flat sections and it is 8" high. Each of the 4 pairs of flat sections that are across from each other on the inside measure just under 3 7/8" apart and each of the eight flat sections inside are 1 5/8" long from inside corner to inside corner. I would think that these street light pole finial caps are meant to fit over a octagon street light pole that is 3 3/4" on the outside of each of the four pairs of flat sections. The pieces measure approximately 34 1/2" high and 10 7/8" square at the base. The finials have some wear but are in overall very good condition. I do not know the age or origin but they are very cool old pieces that would look great in your home or garden. They can be repainted to your liking. Wood is smooth from sanding and worn smooth too. Someone filled cracks with wood putty. And sanded. It looks like the next step was probably stain and varnish for it to be perfect. Lots of slices of wood made this knob. Maybe it had a topper to it, but I like it this way. My father in law kept it on his book case with a little brass statue he had. Like a pedestal for his little statue.

Antique Vtg Architectural Gate Post or Fence (solid) Cast Iron Bird Finial
This listing features an old. Solid cast iron bird finial. I believe it was on a gate or fence since it has a threaded post on the end. It is painted white and there is the usual weather wear to the paint with some rusting as shown. I think it is wonderful. There is still some threading left on the post. The bird measures 3 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" wide. The threaded post is 1/4" long and 1/8" in diameter. It is heavy weighing over 1 pound unpacked. Too sweet! All items I sell are either vintage or antique. So, there may be some less than perfect condition factor. Please note that I will state if the item is in excellent or mint condition. Vtg Antique All COPPER CONSTRUCTED ARCHITECTURAL FINIAL FINISHED TOP PIECE Description Vintage/antique. All COPPER CONSTRUCTED ARCHITECTURAL FINISHED TOP. This is a superior constructed top made by a true tinner craftsman. Look close at the soldered seams, the rolled tapered cone, the turned rib on the bottom so that it will fit snuggly into a base. I don't know what the original intent of the cone cap was designed for, however, a versed craftsman did a super job at it's construction. About 8.75" tall x 4.75" full diameter of cone. The diameter is 4" where it leads into the retaining rib for holding tight. Please enlarge all pictures to see the condition and details the best. I will combine shipping on multiple items. Set of 6 HEAVY CAST IRON Vtg/Antique ACORN FINIALS Fence Gate Post Tops Caps 5" Beautiful set of 6 of vintage/antique metal acorn finials. I am not sure of the age but they appear to be quite old. I believe that they are cast iron. They are thick and heavy. About 3 pounds each. The finials are painted black and stand approximately 5" tall. The bases measure 3" x 3 1/4" at the widest point with the interior dimensions being somewhat smaller. There are screw holes at either end of the shorter sides to secure the finials to the top of a post. It looks as if there are screw remnants in these holes and they would probably need to be drilled out if you plan on using them as intended. 3 of the bases have breaks(see pics) There is some wear and flaking to the black paint( you can see other paint colors in some areas) and also ... moresome rust here and there. A nd take note of the additional information on the right side of the listin g. This finial measures about 11" tall. The rectantgular base measures 9 1/2" x 7 3/4" It weighs about 4 lb 13 oz. I am not sure where this piece came from. I obtained it as-is. It has some condition issues(beyond the heavy ruse on the base) The metal on the sphere part of the finial has torn at the top and bottom(the bottom tear is pointed out in a photo below) The two halves of the globe don't sit quite right. And can be shifted easily out of position. The central screw needs to be loosened and the parts reseated to get a get a good fit.
