It is very solid and could definitely be used in a building project, but I've been using for a garden decoration. Heavy gauge copper, very solid, no corrosion holes but a few dings here and there, and is missing one of the fancy corner decorations. The actual top finial part is slightly cocked, it probably could be bent back, but that would be up to the new owner if they chose. Vintage Nautical COPPER FIREPLACE TOOL STAND & SHOVEL ~ Ship Finials
This is a copper and iron nautical fireplace tool stand with one ash shovel. The stand is 26 3/4" tall overall with a round Deco styled base. A copper round cap at the top has four flat copper hooks to hang tools from. The finial is a copper ship ornament with a round loop atop of it. The matching shovel is roughly 19 1/2" long overall and has a matching ship finial at the top with the loop that is used to hang it up. The ship finials have the name"The Victory" across the bottom. The base and the round shafts of the stand and the shovel are cast iron with copper casings. The shovel scoop. The finials and the stand cap are all copper. There is a nice old darkened patina with touches of verdi gris.and a bit of dust still clinging. The iron bottom of the base has rust and some has bled up through to the top where the shaft ... moregoes through but that could be easily cleaned up with a bit of lemon oil, or the whole thing could be cleaned a polished to make it gleam but the way it is looks best.Nice set for the seaside cottage or camp. The next two are hollow copper and still sodderd to the old rod. 4rth from the top is hollow copper with a threaded brass end. The bottom two are solid, heavy copper. Wonderful Pair of Large Antique Post Finials Up for your consideration are two large antique post finials. These are wonderful with dark turned wood finials with a lovely shape but the best piece is the copper finial cap on the top of each. They are screwed in and has a nice patina. I do not know the type of wood, certainly not pine, more like mahogany but not completely sure however, they do have weight. Each measures 9" tall, the square base is 3 1/2" Both are dirty but in overall good condition, one is missing a corner off the base but nothing major. Sold As Is. I will combine shipping!
