The WARDROBE is in good overall used condition and are ready to place in the setting of your choice. It is a very ornate piece and has a lovely French feel. The front outer edging has an ebonised finish which contrast nicely with the walnut and highlights the fancy gilt mounts, It has a carved pediment at the top above a pair of panel doors which have walnut veneered and elaborate inlaid decoration. Each door has a vase of flowers inlaid in the centre, they also have ornate gilt metal handles and the wardrobe comes with lock& key in working order, It has a mahogany lined interior which is very clean& ... moretidy. There is a single internal shelf and 2 hanging rails which run from left to right, it also has a mirror to the reverse of the R H door, The Wardrobe splits in 2 large sections for ease when transporting. Age: 1850-1899 This stately piece is designed to break down so that it can be easily moved. The side doors are bowed in shape and curve back at the sides. They are exquisitely designed with a marquetry. Beading with a pattern of Cross Cut Walnut in the center framed the doors. A beautiful oval medallion with an urn full of flowers at the center decorates the tops of the side doors. The marquetry work is incredible. The brass mounts adorning the exterior of the armoire have been molded with a leaf patterns displayed. The drawer shown has a primary wood of walnut with a secondary wood of oak. The locks do not work but I'm sure can be repaired. I never did anything with them because I never needed too. Beautiful French Country Triple Armoire. both large doors open to reveal hanging areas open from top to bottom; center door opens to reveal an area with one shelf in the center. And a bottom shelf. Then of course there are drawers in the bottom center section. All hardware is intact and in good working order. Doors and drawers all open smoothly and properly. You will see in the pic there are two small splits in the wood in the top panel of the right hand door. This is not damage, just due to age. I estimate this piece to be from the early part of the 1900's. The bolts and brackets holding it together are quite old. It breaks down into about a dozen pieces for moving. This furniture from France has been waxed and buffed so that only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. The hand carved crest in high relief is beautiful.
