GORGEOUS ANTIQUE OAK & WALNUT FURNITURE CARTOUCHE & PEDIMENT SHELF
Up for bid is a gorgeous antique solid walnut and oak cartouche and pediment shelf. Standing 11-1/2" high x 8-1/2" wide and having a profile of about 5-1/2" deep. This solid looking shelf makes a bold statement wherever you decide to hang and use it. It hangs by two brass hooks, fastened to the back, so that when something is set atop of it, it will not sway to one side of the other and the shelf will set firmly on the wall. The back has been hollowed out to reduce some of it's weight, though two properly positioned screws into anchors in the wall should allow a good amount of weight to be placed upon the shelf. The top of the shelf is a nicely crafted solid oak board with nicely cut edges along the front and sides. The cartouche itself is a gorgeous hand carved acanthus leaf with a drop down finial at the bottom supporting ... morethe shelf. Little to no original finish is left, so I believe a natural or dark finish is all that's needed to make this piece pop. This is a very attractive antique Victorian era pediment salvaged piece. It has such a rich patina! I believe it is made of walnut. However could be mahogany(sorry don't know woods very well) It is heavy and solid. It has been beautifully carved with leaves and walnuts. It measures 14" long, 5 5/8" wide and 7 1/4" deep. It looks like it was a corbel but could have a lot of uses.It is in excellent condition except for a thin crack on one side as pictured. I used contemporary off-the-shelf interior door trim to finish the new door. I've held onto this piece of mill-work thinking that I might want to reproduce it someday. As time passes that's looking more and more unlikely and considering that old architectural objects like this are now considered very hot ... moredecorative elements I've decided to part with it. It's an original door pediment or head casing trim and is roughly 100 years old. It has several layers of peeling paint over what appears to be the original shellac finish. I removed much of the curling. Loose paint. It could be stripped and refinished or left as is! It would look great with the addition of a shelf and perhaps some metal coat/hat hooks or wooden pegs on the flat. Vertical surface area of the piece. It would also make a fine head or topper piece for a mirror or recessed niche or it could be used as intended above a door or window! The possibilities are endless! Gorgeous Antique Victorian Era Cast Iron Architectural Pediment Fretwork Piece Busybusybusy treasure hunting week for you. I shopped at a closing antique store. Went to the flea market, and still have some items from the weeks ago farm estate auction- there’s lots of neat stuff that you don‘t want to miss! Oh-So one of my favorites this week- it's a gorgeous Victorian era antique cast iron architectural piece- a pediment or piece of fretwork from a home. Or perhaps a garden gate, I am not sure, as I just have the one, and cannot put the rest of the"peices" back together to see. I'm thrilled for the piece that I have, though- it is just so pretty in shape and design, and it looks just as good whether it's up like I have in photo 1 or up like I have it in my 23rd photo. It has a very old(probably multiple layers) finish ... moreof black paint, and you can see it's chippy, shabby and worn in many spots- and in most of those spots down to the iron underneath- and you can see a layer of dark surface rust where the metal is exposed. The rust spots are very old, surface only with no thick spots holes, etc. This piece is totally structurally sound and weighs a whopping 6 3/4 lbs. I'm showing you both front and back(if there is a difference, it seems the same on both sides to me as far as design) as well as both sides and top and bottom in my photos. On one short end and its sides(don't know if it's top or bottom- it's the top in most of my photos except 23) you can see where it looks like it was connected to a larger piece- see photos 11 and 16-17 for the side view of where it looks like it was separated, and photos 18-19 of that top where it looks like it was connected and separated. I cannot tell if it was cut or broken from its larger piece, as rough, not flat, but there's no jagged or sharp edges- see my photos. Photos 20& 21 show the other short end, where it's painted and I can see cast lines, so this end was not attached to anything back in the day. The piece measures

Antique 19c. Pediment Architectural Crown Walnut Wood Crest Salvage Cottage Chic
For auction. A 19th-century solid walnut pediment with deeply carved motif. It measures 19 1/2" across the base and about 9 1/2" wide(5 1/4" wide at center. The width is 3" across the top and 1" at the sides. This architectural salvage piece is covered with classical acanthus scrolls and a flower in the center. The wood finish does show lots of wear and there is an old repair on the leaf to the right of the flower, shown best in photo 3. There are two pegs for mounting it, both of which can be removed if desired. The back has a chip that looks like a wood knot broken off: it does not show from the front. Thanks for looking.

STUNNING Antique 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Double Koi Fish WOW- went to my favorite flea market this weekend and found some awesome treasures for you- I’ll be listing all week. So keep checking! Well. If there was ever a listing where I just wanted to say nothing, and let my photos say it all, this would be the one. But I'm guessing you might want at least a little more details: so here goes. This is probably one of the most drop-dead-gorgeous antique pediment pieces I have sold. It literally stopped me in my tracks. Now, I don't know if these came off of a piece of furniture, or an architectural piece, but it has a 1" diameter hole in the center that I'm showing in photo 5, that goes all the way through, and I'm assuming that has something to do with what it once was, or how it was mounted. The piece is hand carved ... moreinto the imat of two Koi fish facing away from each other. On either end, in front of the Kois' mouths are grapes and leaves also hand carved. It weighs 6 1/4 lbs, and it is 21 1/4" long, 5 1/4" highest and 3 5/8" deepest. The back is flat, not carved, and the underside allows the piece to stand securely, upright and straight, as in my photos. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is very very dark from age. I'm not 100% certain, but I THINK the wood may be oak- that's from looking at the backside, but it's dark and hard to see the grain, so please supersize and see what you think. The finish shows wear, and lots of alligatoring in certain spots, like I'm showing in photo 8. There's a couple of small nicks- on that I'm showing in photo 6- it's on a scale on the right fish and it looks newer as it's lighter. It's very shallow- at first, I thought it was just finish wear, but it's a shallow nick that measures 1/8" long. I'm showing another shallow chip that is on the underside of the piece in photo 8- on the end of the underside. It is either really old, or it may be original to the carving

BRAUN COMPANY. https:archive.org/details/WroughtIronOrnaments From the above archive it appears they were created in the 1920's. Prior to this catalog that was published in 1928. The catalog shows this design and each piece is imprinted with the name of the company. They can be turned either way as the design is on both sides. They have been cut off at some point from whatever structure it was attached to and there the bare metal shows. Please see photos. Nice design of a rose and climbing leaves. Antique Architectural Salvage Pediment Hand Carved and Inlaid Floral Design
Description: Here is a gorgeous pediment that came from the estate of a well-to-do Hartford CT woman who loved to collect beautiful items. This item came from an upstairs storage closet with other antiques and architectural elements that the woman had bought in 1983 when she was planning on building a summer house on Long Island Sound. The invoice showed that she paid $450 for it over 30 years ago. Supposedly it had been carved and inlaid by a well known Connecticut carver but her niece could not remember who for sure. It appears to be carved from two layers of solid mahogany and then two pieces at either end appear to have been nicely inlaid with boxwood in a floral pattern. The carvings are deep and wonderfully done and you can even still see the chisel marks on the top edge which would not have been seen. There are all the usual marks. ... moreNicks and stuff you would expect to see on a piece of this age as well as a nibble from each end of the bottom. The color and glow of the patina is just first rate as you can tell from looking at my photos. This furniture part or topper. Pediment etc is old but I have no date. Otherwise it is in excellent condition; wood appears to be black walnut, chestnut, or similar type dark hardwood. Size is 27" long by 4 inches high. About 1 inch thick. I bought this in New England for a project and know nothing other than the above about this piece. Blue paint looks like a recent addition, I think this piece would be much prettier stripped and refinished to show off the nice wood.

Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Pittsburgh Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is painted. It was originally part of a built in armoire. There is a shelf at the top with a crown molding below. The breast has nice carved festoons. It is 73 inches long. 12 tall and is 4.5 inches deep. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but will clean up nicely. The shelf along the top does not sit flush on the wall. This is a an exceptional carved oak pediment or panel with a large carved Griffin or Lion face center medallion. It measures aprox. 37 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" high x 3" deep. Overall it is in good condition. No missing carvings but there are three breaks in the carvings, just to the right of his chin, on the far right and another on the right side as well, we provided pictures that show these areas. ANTIQUE WALNUT VICTORIAN SPOON CARVED VINTAGE FRETWORK CORNICE FURNITURE PEDIMENT A lovely. Antique, Eastlake Victorian furniture pediment that appears to be made out of walnut. It has spoon carved decoration with has traces of gold still inside. There are spools that decorated each side and woodwork that looks like a crown. This lovely furniture pediment measures approximately 48" long x 6 1/4" high on each end and about 6 1/2" in the middle. There is about a 3" slope from the top flat part, down to the front of the spools. It appears that the blocks, in the middle next to the spools, were added recently. One of the points of the crown, in the middle, is missing and the scallop on one end is missing the top. A couple of other scallops have some damage to the wood that is not really that noticeable. There is a metal ring ... moreon each side for hanging, two screws in the back that were probably used to attach it to a piece of furniture, and the front has two nails in the wood, where someone must have hung something. One of the spools has a broken part that was probably done when the new block was added(not noticeable) Despite the flaws, this is still a very beautiful, antique, Victorian Cornice that will look great being hung and enjoyed.
