Beautifully detailed antique carved wood pediment- measuring 42" wide and 12" at the highest point in the center. It is about 4" deep- has ledge on bottom back. It has a basket with fruit decoration in the middle. Piece has a gilded finish that has worn off in places- Workmanship is magnificent- details exquisite-There are some places in the front where it has been glued and probably some small missing pieces of wood- but nothing really noticeable considering the age of the piece. Antique Architectural Salvage Victorian Oak Wood Pediment Carved Burl 35.5" Arch
Beautiful Oak Pediment with carved leaves and burl embellishments. Also Eastlake spoon type carving on the ends that also have a hint of the Art Nouveau look! There is a arch in the middle that shows that it is attached with dowels. Not nails. Also the top(or could be the bottom if you like) has a ledge that is 1 5/8" wide. The piece measures 35.5" long and is 6" tall. I believe this came from an antique buffet or some other piece of furniture. There is hardware in the back. So it is ready to attach it to your wall. Some without- Here is a gorgeous and i mean gorgeous eastlake wall pocket. has really nice carvings and a gorgeous added bird& leaf on the front.i see no damage or issues what so ever aside from one tiny little chip on the bottom.very hard to notice, other than that, no holes, dings, scratches, cracks, hairlines, nothing. it is in tip top shape.has its original chains and brackets aswell but as youll notice it needs a couple new little tiny nails put in on the side where they use to go, otherwise you can just leave the chains the way they are. if you notice the carvings on this piece are very nicely done.on alot of later eastlake pieces the carvings became sort of shotty and ... morenot symetrical and just sort of poorly done and rushed.i believe this wall pocket to be a very early eastlake piece judging by the extra nice carvings and attention to symetrical detail, and the very old hardware.this one was done beautifully top to bottom. i meant to dust it before i took pictures but i forgot so any blemishes are just particles of dust, this piece really is in amazing condition. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It was originally part of a piece of furniture. It is made of walnut and is unpainted. There is a wonderful carved crest along the top. There are heavy raised molding at the top and along the bottom. The body has carvings in the middle and an applied raised panel at the left side. There was a panel on the right side also but it is missing. It measures 39.5 inches wide by 23 tall. It is 4 inches deep. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but should clean up nicely. The carved piece in the middle is faced with burled walnut veneer. The veneer is coming up and some is missing. Please look at the pictures carefully. The Rose swags are a soft shabby muted pink with soft mint green leaves. The swag tops are tied off by gold ribbons. The top of the board is painted a mahogany burgundy tone. There is just a slight piece of the Barbola missing on the center rose swag. But would not really be noticeable with matching paint. The odd thing about this piece is that to be completely a 3 sided pediment– it is missing the left side. Of course a piece could be added to this minus roses. Or the other side taken off and 2 new pieces put on both side with a paint to simply match the muted creamy yellow. The left top end has a slight slant to it, so I am thinking this actually was probably a longer mantle, pediment to begin with that was cut in two& that is why the odd side without the finish. It measures 44 1/2” across and is 10 ¼” tall and 6 ½” wide. So I think I am starting with a low starting price on this in lieu of the above factor. I’m sure someone creative out there has the ingenuity to figure the other side out. The original hardware is inside. But perhaps the new owner would want to have this refurbished. Lovely Antique Late 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Turned Wall Decor So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! This one is sooooo pretty. And if you don't want it for wall decor. It's as simple as removing the hanger that the dealer put on the back! It's an antique pediment with lovely hand carved detail. I don't know if it started life as an architectural piece, or a furniture piece, but it will be yours to decide. It measures 19 5/8" long top to bottom and is 8 1/4" at its widest- the ... morecenter. It is 1 7/8" deep there at the center, but measuring from the very back of the piece, to the farthest sticking out part of the piece(the top, which angles out) it measures 4" deep there. It weighs 1 3/4 lbs and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally. The patina is dark and yummy! You can see rustic wear to the wood and finish all over- very minor- scratches, scrapes,teenie holes, nicks, dings, light spots, dark spots and finish wear down to the wood(see photos 4&7 where you can see lighter, small finish wear spots) You can see two nails at the top. And some holes at the back from when it was mounted originally. The back gives some indiaction of its old life too, as you can see that it's lighter at the bottom than at the top. The white spot at the back is an old dealer tag, it will come off. It's dustydustydusty and needs a good cleaning, I have not cleaned or messed with the as found patina in any way. ANTIQUE 1800's GOTHIC VICTORIAN ORNATE CARVED WOOD VINTAGE PEDIMENT CORNICE CRESTS A pair of very beautiful. 1800s, pediments that probably when on the back of chairs. They are made of solid wood and have openwork in the center with applied leaves on the sides. Each lovely crest measures approximately 14 1/2" across x 9 1/4" high(not including the dowels on the bottom) x 1 3/16" thick. The wood appears to have the original patina with some scratches to the surface finish. One of them(see photo) is missing the rosette in the middle and the wood is separating at the top and needs to be glued down(see photo) There must have been something else on the very top, because there is a dowel hole on the top of each one(see photo) Everything else looks great on these wonderful old pediments! It is a nice rich reddish brown wood with carved gold gilt raised scrolling design.
