It has an elaborately carved floral and scroll crown and sides. Below the doors is a carved drawer as shown in the photos. It stands on carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet. Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. An option for repurposing this armoire is to strip the silver from the mirrors, leaving the original glass thus making the armoire a display cabinet. Mirrors, glass shelves and lights can be added to really jazz it up. We have sold hundreds of this style armoire to use in any room of the house, not just the bedroom. It is a TURN OF THE CENTURY Victorian TABLE TOP OAK CHEST with 3 drawers and an open space. I believe it is a jewelry chest/ armoire or a gentlemans valet.not really sure.Some of it appears to be tiger oak. It is QUITE UNUSUAL with ornate metal work on ALL 4 CORNERS on the TOP of the chest.as well as ALL 4 CORNERS on the FRONT of the chest. Both front doors also have a metal SHIELD decoration and one side has a key lock which I do not have the key for. Nor do I know if it works.but looks very classy with all the Victorian Fancy Hardware. When opened. It reveals 3 drawers ~ 1 larger bottom one and 2 smaller side ones. It also has an open space to the right of the smaller drawers. The HANDLES on the 3 drawers are ORNATE with UNUSUAL DROP BAIL PULLS! ONE pull is MISSING. There is one pull which is unattached and as there is some metal damage to the 2 other handles. It will need some fixing.but still acceptable for its age in my opinion. Back is made of 2 pieces of wood and is not split. Just age seperation. The bottom is covered in old felt. CONDITION: ONE SIDE of the cabinet/chest has a center split in the wood. This piece is from Korea and is about 20 or so years old. The exterior design was handcrafted by a Korean artisan who cut each piece of mother of pearl and abalone shell to create the likeness of a peacock surrounded by a blooming bouquet of flowers and butterflies. Please note that the color of the mother of pearl changes depending on the light source- when under natural light. It has a silvery iridescent glow and under interior lighting(incandescent bulb) it has an amber glow. The entire piece is made out of wood painted with a black lacquer finish. The interior is wood also(unpainted) I believe pine, but I'm not exactly sure(it's definitely NOT particle board, though) and it features 2 separate sections(left& right) each with different smaller compartments inside, the details of which are described below. There are 2 sliding doors to access the right and left side and it does have a lock, but I no longer have the key. The size of the entire armoire is 7ft(L) x 6.25ft(H) x 2.25ft(D) approx. It disassembles into 6 major pieces(if I'm not mistaken) top section. 2 sliding doors, bottom section, left section and right section. The top section holds the entire piece together.
