Each hand-carved from a single piece of solid mahogany wood. Both pieces originally came from a wardrobe door and are in very good and undamaged condition. The central motif on the square panel is a Green Man’s face surrounded by a symmetrical design showing strong hints of Art-Noveau design in the tulips and flowing lines. The ornamental crest depicts scrolls of a late 19 th century style but these were still commonly used up to the 1 st World War period. The cresting repeats the tulip motif. Material: Solid mahogany wood(each carved from a single piece) Finish: A coat of clear varnish had been applied at some point in time. Great Aunt Euphania bought this in the market in Lima. Peru a f ew years ago and as with so many things she"had plans" for it. N ot surprisingly her plans changed and so this gradually worked it's way to the closet and has emerged for someone on ebay to enjoy. Looks antique but probably isn't very old. Appears hand carved but we are not certain. Not sure of the type of wood, weighs less than 12 oz so not to heavy to deal with. Measures about 1 8" across and 9" from top to bottom and is about half an inc h thick. Has a tiny chip on one piece that sticks out and another small s pot towards the top of the back. Naturally this is a rustic piece and would not be expected to be perfect. Com pared to what else we see on ebay it seems th at this would give you a lot of bang for your buck. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia. PA Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. It was originally the crown to a built in armoire. This was the crown molding and a small shelf along the top. The breast has applied carvings in the middle and at the side. It measures 99 inches wide by 13 inches tall. It is 3.25 inches thick. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are notches along the bottom from the legs of the armoire. Original antique gesso and wood architectural moulding from the turn of the century. The moulding measures 1 3/4 inches wide. There are 9 pieces and their lengths are: 48. 48, 36, 34, 29, 34, 28, 26 and 16 inches. The moulding has a flat wood back and the gesso design on the front has a crown moulding style. The moulding has been well kept and the gesso is not damaged and has good designs. The moulding has a slot in the wood on the top of the moulding. I believe this is architectural moulding and not picture frame stock because the slot in the wood is not correct for picture frames. It has no offset. The gesso design has a nice scalloped bottom edge and is quite handsome. Very old, probably 100 year old moulding that you do not see often in this quantity. I believe there is near 25 feet here. It is in classic hunting style with a highly carved deer head in the middle. It is in good antique condition-straight and solid. There are a couple of small holes where it was once hung. Also. Stars like these were used in the construction of two or more story brick/stone buildings. 100 plus years ago, to stabilize and secure the brick/stone masonry. They were attached inside to the joist beams, thus securing the brick or stone siding together with the frame of the building. You may see them on many of the very old masonry constructed buildings in your town. This is an antique or vintage wrought iron grate or panel that was salvaged from a door imported from Egypt. You can see the Arabic influence in the turned finials on top. It measures 10" wide x 42 1/2" high x 1/2" thick or deep. They are all riveted together as opposed to any welded joints and most likely are hand wrought. The front had once been painted a blush ivory with gold accents. Measures a large 37.75" wide x 18" tall. It does have a metal piece on the back for easy hanging. Stunning piece, timeworn with chippy paint, mostly around the edges.
