6pc Painted Antique American Stained Glass Window Set
fid10033-10038 A set of Painted Antique American Stained Glass Windows from Eagle Mills. New York, circa 1900. The set is comprised of 6 individually framed 2 piece sections. The frames are original and measure 24.75" x 77.75" each. In the picture immediately below, I have arranged the individual framed panels in a completely arbitrary composite. The thumbnail sets below show the individual framed pairs in multiple images. The windows are essentially all in excellent condition with only a couple of cracks in the entire set and perhaps 4 border pieces which have been damaged and need to be replaced(which I will have done) The top panel of each pair is in a ventilator frame and they all still open and have their original hardware. Several of the windows and all of the ventilator panels had protective plastic or textured plate glass ... morecovering the exterior side and this has all been removed. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia stained glass studio that we bought out. I was told it could be by Mayer of Munch Germany. It was originally part of a larger window. This is a very finely painted window. It has a new oak frame and is in good condition. It measures just a hair over 20 inches wide by 26 inches tall. The glass only is approx. 15.75 by 21.75 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Antique Figural Painted&Stained Glass Little Red Riding Hood Hanging Window Pane
This unusual hanging stained glass is 15 1/2” high and a little less than 11 1/2” wide. This hanging is breath-taking in person. Who doesn't love Grimm’s Fairy Tales. And Little Red Riding Hood is certainly one of the best known. My grandparents purchased this in the 1960’s in an antique shop in Germany. They were told that it was very old. I am not sure how old it is. I showed it to the owner of Artisan’s Glassworks which is a Baltimore co. which restores old glass, including stained glass windows for churches. He told me that he could not reproduce this piece today. He said that no one knows how to make the shade of red that’s in the stained glass anymore. He really loved it and said that he’d never seen anything like it. I know that I haven’t either. To me, the style of painting looks Victorian, but I cannot be positive. My grandmother ... morewas convinced that it was from the Middle Ages, and you could not convince her otherwise. Regardless of its exact age, it has a charm and attraction all its own. The colors as the light streams through them are amazing. The painting on the glass is masterfully executed. It would be an awesome addition to any window of a home. Mid 1800s STAINED GLASS WINDOW Shield & Diamond Design: Hand Painted Detail
This amazing. Leaded, stained glass window was salvaged from an 1800s era home in Northfield, Massachusetts. The home was adjacent to the former Northfield Mount Hermon Christian Seminary and may have been a home for faculty members or possibly administrative offices. Three of the panels have hand painted designs done in reverse. I could not find the meaning of these symbols. But they may be religious in nature. Though I have no way of knowing the exact age of this piece. I believe the style fits into the mid 1800s best. It measures 19" vertically and 20" horizontally. It is not perfect and has two hairline cracks as seen in photos 4 and 5. It is in wonderful condition for being between 120 and 150 years old but has obvious signs of age and wear. This fragment features fleur de lis patterns in two sizes. A strip of undecorated red stained glass really sets off the patterns. Some of the original lead is missing. Parts of the original lead that is in place need to be repaired or replaced. There is no damage to the glass. This fragment is difficult to measure due to its shape. As you look at the pictures, the bottom is about 5 3/4" wide. It tapers out to about 7" at the red strip. The heighth from the tip of the top triangle to ... morethe lead at the bottom is about 12 1/2" The fragment could either be dismantled and its parts used separately, or it could be repaired. The window itself is made up of many pieces of glass. All are hand painted. What a gem. This piece is a true antique.
