As you can see by the photos. This is a wonderful, original 19 th century window. It has jewels and gorgeous colors. Please note that there are a couple of places with some loss of glass. Very Fine 19th Century La Farge Stained Glass Window
This fine window comes from the American Gilded Age and was executed in great detail with copper foil. The central image is hand enameled with great precision and bares the image of Jesus Christ with two women; one who is sitting beside him. And the other handing him a bowl of fruit. The background image is very detailed with a vine covered garden. The edges of this magnificent piece are bordered with a very ornate, floral and leaf scroll design, helping the artist capture the beautiful image in which it surrounds. Height: 27.5" = 69.9 cm. Pair 19 th Century Fully Leaded& Framed Stained Glass Church Windows 29 ¾’ x 17” Here is what I believe to be a pair of 19 th Century Fully Leaded& Framed Stained Glass Church Windows measuring 29 ¾’ x 17” each from an unknown church in Chicago. I bought these many years ago from a retired part owner of a construction and demolition company who had a garage full of these that he decided to part with since he had enough of framing and selling them after he retired. These he believed came from a 19 th century church they demolished sometime in the 1970’s or 80’s. The only thing I did to these was to carefully clean the glass once when I first did the project and brush off any loose residue from the lead with a dry toothbrush before framing them with aluminum channel rails. I tried to take the pictures in different lighting ... moreenvironments to expose the colors as the lighting conditions change and taken together I think it gives the viewer a pretty good idea of what these look like. All the glass has oodles and boodles of seeds(or tiny bubbles. As Don Ho would say) and that I can see, there is no damage on either of these windows. The frames are very light weight but still offer more than enough support for hanging the way I have done. These will stay hanging until they are shipped. These don’t really belong stylistically where I live now and it’s time for me to open up the space that these take up. It will take me up to a week to ship these after the sale because I will be shipping these in a sturdy hand made wooden box and packaging them separated by sturdy shipping foam. I only charge for actual shipping costs but the packaging alone may add an extra $15 or so to ship. I am rather fastidious about shipping in safe packaging because I tend to ship rather delicate items and machines. Since these windows will remain hanging until I am ready to ship them and I can’t really accurately estimate the total shipping cost. Antique Stained Glass Windows (Residential) Unique 19th Century set
These windows were part of my grandmother's Art collection and were kept in storage for many years in upstate New York. They most likely originate from one of the affluent aristocratic estates that were prominent in that area at the turn of the Century. The condition of the windows is relatively good but weathered. particularly the frames) The frames are wooden, with square windows being 34x30 inches and the rectangular windows 34x18 inches in dimension. Adjacent to the Ft. Sheridan military base. The house was built for a General from Ft. Sheridan, approximately 1895. The window was built in the framing of the home. The house was purchased in 1911 by our family. The house was razed in 1986 and the window was carefully removed. Antique 19th Century- kiln fired reverse painted stained leaded panel from the estate of deceased listed artist Ernest A. Melchert born 1890- 1972. One of a few examples found in his summer residence where it had been modified into a window hanger in the early 1900's. He collected a lot of Russian and black forest Antiquities. I believe this panel to be Russian in origin and at least 100 years old. Posssibly one panel out of a larger piece. The Kiln Fired fusion of the vitreous paint to the glass is the process used in the old church windows of Europe since the 16th Century. I know he acquired this and other pieces in his travels in the 1920's. This beautiful Piece of art glass measures 11x15in. This is a beautiful old stained glass window- 39x 29" There was a wood window frame around it but it has come loose(I have all the pieces) This is fragile! Especially without the wood frame- I am recommending pick up only. Green rectangular glass border with 2 yellow rectangle interior borders along with red& yellow designs on the corners and pink& opaque flowers with green leaves on all all 4 sides. Center has a circle wreath design with opaque middle and pink ribbon with different color small circles surrounding it. Uncertain about a career in law that he began to pursue. He went to Paris in 1856 and briefly studied painting with Thomas Couture. Returning to New York, he took a space in the new Tenth Street Studio Building. In 1859 he went to work with painter William Morris Hunt in Newport, Rhode Island, but soon left the studio to paint directly from nature, inspired by Newport's beautiful environment and his own advanced approach to aesthetics.
