Crafted in the Louis XVI taste during the first quarter of the 20th Century is a classic example of the very successful design. Of diminutive proportions. It is more of an oversized bergere arm chair than a true loveseat. The width ideal for lounging casually with a good book in a comfortable setting. The crest is a perfect arch, sharply angled at each corner to form the squared back- this balance of tight lines with soft flowing form was a difficult harmony to achieve, conforming to the clean form important to Neoclassical designs while still being warm and inviting. This piece captures it perfectly, the arched crest mirrored in the projecting bowed apron and the soft cyma-curve ... moreof the arms and arm supports. These details giving shape and depth to an otherwise austere adherence to the square. Crisp carved details bring elegance to specific elements of this fine sofa: the acanthus carved arm supports or reeded and curled handholds. The chair is wood with a high slatted back. The chair features a large medallion in the top center of the back. A gesso style, painted lion with fleur de lis crest is inside the medallion section. The lion crest is black and the background paint is a burnt red. The balance of the chair is painted a dark olive green with brown undertones. Golden brown is used on the spherical sections of the turned wood spindles and legs. We are pleased to offer this very beautiful. Antique to older vintage, French or English styled, Regency accent arm chair. This lovely old chair dates to the late 1940s. It features a gorgeous solid wood frame with beautiful, lower profile styling. The upper back frame is carved with acanthus leaf and acorn detail. The back legs are slightly curved and the front legs are fluted. The arms are scrolled which gives the chair a very lovely side profile. The chair has the original silk fabric in a golden hue. The fabric has a machine embroidered floral pattern. The flowers are a soft scarlet purple in direct light, but are more muted when not in direct light which gives the fabric great interest. The fabric is finished with nailhead trim. The chair has both the original manufacturer's tag as well as the furniture store tag still attached on ... morethe bottom. The chair was manufactured by the Charlotte Chair Company, Charlotte, Michigan. The chair was originally sold by the Furniture House in Columbus, Ohio. This is a beautiful. Chair in ORIGINAL fabric and finish. It is in very good condition with only VERY minor wear to the wood(it is in very good condition) The fabric has a spot of threading and some wear to the front corners of the seat as well as a couple of small stains on the seat. Otherwise, the chair is exceptional and it is STUNNING! The chair measures 33" tall. 27" deep(front to back) and 24" wide(seat front) The seat height is 16" The chair is weighty. Vintage Antique White Wood High Back French Arm Chair Brocade Fabric GORGEOUS
This is a really GORGEOUS vintage antique white wood with gold French Louis XV style upholstered arm chair with an upholstered back! Purchased at an estate sale they said it was probably from the 1950's or 60's. This is a WONDERFUL chair made in the French style. It has an"H" base with a medallion in the center with gold and scalloped arms. The material is BEAUTIFUL and the print is vertical green stripes with embroidered light reddish flowers. Green stems and leaves. Light yellow vertical lines as well. I don't know whether they call this fabric brocade or brocatelle or what but it is really LOVELY! I also don't know what the wood is other than antique hardwood with antique white with GORGEOUS gold. The wood is carved all around the legs and in the back of them too. Distinctive and long CABRIOLE legs with carvings ... morewith gold! The chair is very solid and sturdy. The arms. Seat and back rest are cushioned so this is very comfortable. The chair measures 44 1/4” tall at the top of the crest, measures 24” from the wall to front leg. The seat measures 18" by 19" It is about 17 1/2” from the floor to the seat top. The chair is structurally VERY strong and ready for home or office use. Condition is really good for a chair this old or any chair! There is a little area 3/8" by almost 1/4" that looks like someone may have pulled the material with a ring they had on but it is small and not really noticeable. Please see last photo for it. There is almost no wear on the fabric of the main part of the chair and only some wear on the material on the arms and the little pull in one small place on the back. The wood is good too with just a little of the gold missing here and there but not bad too. Some wear to the gold where you would rest your hands on the arms. I am not a furniture expert but I know this is a solid chair in nice condition. I am guessing 1940's? Seems to be vintage(see pictures of wear on bottom of feet) I'm sure someone will let me know if I am wrong. There are no tags or markings so not sure who it was made by. ANTIQUE OLD CARVED WOOD FRENCH LOUIS XV PAINTED ARM SLIPPER CHAIR SILK FABRIC
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique chair. The chair dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and has been restored. The chair features carved wood frame with French. Louis XVI details. The chair has an ornate back with acanthus scrolls and flower medallion all in raised relief. The chair has sleek, curved arms with wide, paw like arm rests. The back legs are straight and nondescript. The front legs have cabriole lines and large paw/claw feet with nice details. The front legs are on metal casters. The frame has been painted at some point(not by us) and the paint does have a"milk paint" look to it. The painting has been expertly done with a beautiful color palette which is neutral but very striking. The colors of paint are a very light coffee/cream tan with a darker, chocolate brown as contrast. The flowers in the ... morecenter back have a blue tone to them. The fabric has also been replaced at some point. A patterned and textured, dupioni silk has been used on the seat. It features a cream or light tan back ground with a raised, geometric pattern. The raised pattern has colors of dark chocolate, golden tan and medium golden brown. The fabric is accented with a decorative trim. The chair is quite beautiful. It has a lower profile(slipper style) and was probably a ladies salon or parlor chair. It is in very good condition and it is very strong and sturdy. There is one small area of surface fraying to the silk in the front of the chair(picture 11) It has not affected the body of the fabric and there are no holes. The fabric is slightly nubby in dupioni fashion. The chair is old and the age is evidenced by the dowels that attach the parts together. The chair measures 31.5" tall.
